Update profile to run payroll????

Thanks for posting here in the Community, @SOES.

I'd like to ensure we're on the same page, so I can provide you with the correct information about updating a profile to run payroll in QuickBooks Online.

What profile do you need to update? Is it your employees' details? Or do you want to change your business information for payroll?

It would also be great if you could include some screenshots regarding your concern so I can get a better view of it.

I'd appreciate any additional details you can provide. I'll be keeping an eye out for your response on this.

Update profile to run payroll????

I am trying to run payroll, but I get this message:

2 employee profiles need your attention before you can pay them:

Quickbooks will not allow me to select the employees. When I go to the profile screen, there is NO indication of what "attention" is needed. VERY frustrated!!

Update profile to run payroll????

Thanks for the prompt response, @SOES.

I've got some troubleshooting steps to fix the missing employee details issue when running payroll in Quickbooks Online (QBO).

I appreciate you for reviewing your employees' setup to ensure that all fields are complete. Since you still encounter such error messages, I suggest processing their payroll through a private/incognito window if you haven't tried it. The private window will not save any history, making it a good place to identify browser problems. To save you time, use either of these keyboard shortcuts:

  • Google Chrome: press Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: press Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Safari: press Command + Shift + N

If you're able to run payroll using a private browser, go back to your regular browser and clear its cache. Clearing the cache or cookies is the best way to get a clean slate for your browser. Otherwise, using other supported browsers can be a good alternative too.

However, if the issue persists, I'd suggest contacting our Payroll Support Team. They have the necessary tools to check your account securely and perform a screen-sharing session to investigate this behavior further.

Additionally, you may check out this article to get a closer look at your employee's total wages, deductions, and tax information for a certain period: Run payroll reports.

I'm always here to assist if you need further assistance with managing your QBO account. I’ll be more than happy to work with you again. Keep safe!

Update profile to run payroll????

Hello there, @Legendarypro. I understand that you're experiencing difficulties with the hire date, as it keeps showing as invalid. No worries, I'm here to help you resolve this problem. Let's explore the possible reasons behind this issue and find a solution together.

I've replicated your scenario here on my end and I was able to successfully add an employee in QuickBooks Online even if the date is ahead or before the present. This suggests that there might be something on your end that's causing the issue.

Considering the situation, it would be helpful to check if the issue is related to your browser. To begin, let's log into your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account using a private browsing session and attempt to add a new employee. This step is important as it will help us determine if the problem is caused by a webpage issue, which could be resulting in the recurring unexpected error you're encountering.

Here’s how to do the private browsing:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Microsoft Edge: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Safari: Command + Option + P

If you're able to add a new employee by browsing privately, it's safe to say that it's being caused by the browser. It can be fixed by clearing your cache and cookies. In the event it continues occurring while using incognito, you'll initially have to switch to another supported browsing application.

However, if you happen to encounter the same error even after performing the recommended steps, I'd recommend reaching out to our Technical Support Team so they can assist you further in a safe a secure manner using their advanced tools.

In addition, I have provided an article that will assist you in understanding the process of new hire reporting in your payroll product: Get a new hire report.

If you have any further questions or need additional assistance in adding a new employee, please don't hesitate to reach out to us. Our team is always ready to assist you. Thank you for choosing QuickBooks Online, and we wish you continued success with your business. Have a good one.
