Perforated paper isn't required, but we highly recommend ordering W-2 kits from us to ensure correct printing and avoid employee filing issues.
Additionally, you can proceed with plain paper type and cut them to fit.
To order your W-2 kit (includes envelopes):
- Go to QuickBooks Checks & Supplies, and then choose Tax Products.
- Select Blank W-2 Kits.
- Follow the on-screen steps to complete your order.
Then, set your print preferences:
- Go to the Gear icon and then Payroll Settings.
- Select the edit pencil icon on W2 print preference.
- Choose your paper type, and then click OK.
Afterward, print your W-2s (follow the instructions based on your subscription). For more details, refer to Step 3 in this article: Print your W-2 forms.
Once done, you can begin filing your W-2 forms to stay compliant.
