Is anyone else having the issue of the w2,W3, 1099 and 1096 not lining up with
the preprinted forms? I have used the same forms for years and now they are not lining up.
Any help would be appreciated since Intuit cannot figure it out for me. Pat
Hi there. We'll share details to help you print your tax forms accurately inside QuickBooks Online (QBO).
Upon reading your post, it looks like this has something to do with Adobe Acrobat Reader. It's best to ensure that the one you're using is running the latest release so that all your tax forms align with your preprinted forms. We'll write down the steps to get you going:
Once done, try to print your forms again. If the issue persists, we recommend contacting our Customer Care Team. This way, they conduct further investigation to determine the root cause of the problem. See this page for more details: Contact Payroll Support.

There use to be a "Align" function in QB that solved the printing issue. I am having to handwrite my 1099/1096 this year
There was an "Align" in QB that was very helpful. I am having to handwrite my 1099/1096 this year
Having the same issues. I'm trying to print for QBs desktop Enhanced Payroll. Someone please help!
There is no solution. I was on the phone with no success with them. I also was on chat and they remoted into my computer with no success at all two hours later. Everything worked fine with 2023 but with the renewal for 2024 everything is a mess. I am sorry but the $649.00 renewal and the $100.00 I pay for enhanced payroll every month is not cost effective in my business. Good luck!
Thanks for getting back to us here, patinvenicefl. I can provide you with some steps to assist in realigning your printer.
When the alignment is incorrect, there can be several causes. Since printers vary, the troubleshooting steps below assume you have familiarity with your specific printer's configuration. If you're uncertain about the process, it's advisable to seek assistance from your IT personnel or directly contact the printer manufacturer's technical support.
If your printer produces satisfactory prints when used outside of QuickBooks, move forward using the Print & PDF Repair Tool from the QuickBooks Tool Hub. It fixes most of the common printing issues.
You can refer to Step 3 in this article for an alternative solution:

This has been super frustrating. I found that my printer driver was defaulted to a Microsoft Driver instead of the Brother Driver. As soon as I switched it, my form aligned perfectly.
How did you do pick which driver? I am assuming this is my issue too since I am now using a Brother printer.
This is the issue. Switching to the manufacturers driver fixed the problem.
We are using a Brother printer too and we selected the Brother laser driver. Finally worked after that! 🤦
Having the same issue. No matter what I do! When the top aligns, the bottom doesn't. When I called the QB help number, they told me that they no longer help with issues like this, but was nice enough to try and help me. She walked me through the QB tools and it did nothing. I literally had not one issue last year. Alignment was perfect from the start. Nothing has changed except the QB upgrade. That's the issue I'm sure and QB can't even find a fix? I'm losing sleep and my anxiety is at an all time high because of this issue. Help please!
Do you know why some people are having an issue and some are not? My employer has two locations and it's only my location that is having the issue. Literally, nothing has changed from this year to last except for the QB upgrade, and it's still only me that's having an issue. I feel like some of us are being left in the dark with no REAL and ACTUAL solution.

I had the same issue and tried everything from uninstalling my printer and downloading the latest driver, QB Desktop Tool Hub repairs, setting Adobe as the default PDF reader, updating my computer, printer and QB, restarting everything a dozen times, etc... as a last resort I was about to go home and try my personal printer when I saw one tip that suggested printing to the Microsoft XP printer (Microsoft XPS Document Writer). It saved as an .oxps file and when I opened it in XPS Viewer and printed to my main HP printer, it was FINALLY aligned perfectly!
From everything I read over the last few days trying to fix this, it sounds like it's been going on for a couple years now and there's so many different fixes for everyone. The lesson I learned from this is I will be buying blank perforated tax forms, in both 2 and 3 forms per page, and printing my own instead of relying on QB/Microsoft/HP/Adobe/etc ever again.
