W2 lists the wrong employee address

How do you get the employee address to show correctly on the W2? Their address was updated on the employee screen months ago and is still correct. It is just the W2 that is wrong.

W2 lists the wrong employee address

Warm greetings, bgoon. I can route you to our designated support to correct the W2 employee address.

Before anything else, please know that who fixes your W-2 depends on your automated taxes and form settings.

Here are the things on the W-2 that cannot be fixed:

  • Employee prefixes (Mr., Mrs., etc.)
  • Employee address
  • Business Name
  • Business address

You can contact our payroll expert team for corrections if your automated taxes and forms are on. Your concern requires the assistance of our designated support.

For more information, visit this article: Fix an incorrect W-2.

Meanwhile, I'll add these articles for more information on filing W-2 taxes in QuickBooks Online:

You can also read the year-end checklist to wrap up this year's payroll. It includes essential tasks that need to be completed before the end of the year, such as processing employee bonuses, preparing W-2 and 1099 forms, and verifying year-to-date totals for each employee.

You can respond by tapping the reply button for further clarification and information regarding W2 employee information. I'd be here to assist you always.

Automated taxes are not on. Is there not a way to change the address before we file?

W2 lists the wrong employee address

Hi there,

Let me help you in updating your employee's address.

Here's how:

  1. Go to Payroll, then Employees.
  2. Click your employee.
    • If you don’t see your employee, change the filter on the employee list.  Above the employee list select the dropdown and choose Active Employees, Inactive Employees, or All Employees.
  3. Click Start or Edit on the section you want to update.
  4. Select Save.

Once done, contact us to request a correction and they'll carefully fix it and file W-2c form. The expert you talk to can let you know approximately when you and your employee should expect to receive it.

Additionally, I'd like to leave to this article to learn how you can invite your employees through QuickBooks Online Payroll to see and print their own pay stubs and W-2s online: Invite your employees to QuickBooks Workforce to see pay stubs, W-2s and more if you use QuickBooks ...

If you have troubles managing your payroll, don't hesitate to click the reply button. I'm always around to help!

W2 lists the wrong employee address

Yes we did that when the employee moved several months ago. It is just the W2 that has the wrong address. I don't think we need to do a W2c as it has not been filed by us yet. I just want it changed on the form. I don't want her to access it with the wrong address on it.
