With QB Online do I need PCI Compliance

Hi there, @Wacobuilt. I'll share more details about QuickBooks Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) compliance to help you manage your local security environment.

Since you're already PCI compliant through your bank or another service provider, you don't have to go through the process in Quickbooks.

Please know that there's no need for you to provide us with proof of compliance at this time. We acknowledge and understand that you have taken the necessary steps elsewhere to meet the PCI requirements.

Furthermore, if you receive system-generated emails requesting to enroll in PCI Certification for SecurityMetrics, feel free to disregard them.

I suggest contacting our QuickBooks Payment Support Team. They can provide further details about the PCI compliance service and how it works. They'll also check your subscription for any add-on PCI Service fee.

You can also check out this article for details on how to keep your account secure and how QuickBooks protects your financial data: Privacy and security in QuickBooks.

Feel free to add comments to this thread if you have more concerns about PCI compliance or any QuickBooks-related matters. Stay safe!

With QB Online do I need PCI Compliance

I cannot access SecurityMetrics

I’ve never received the email to verify my email and I checked spam .
I cannot complete a contact form the because the one click CAPTCHA “ fails”

I’ve used quick books merchant services for years and never heard the term PCI compliance. Also use stripe which is level 1 PCI compliance. This all very vague and ambiguous. Any light to shed on this? Nothing states the number of transactions threshold for PCI compliance nothing is specific about benefits such as what fines for what if not PCI could compliant we do not store cc info we simply send a quickbook invoice with payment link through QuickBooks to a customer and they pay their invoice. Someone please elaborate on this .

Let me share some insights about the PCI compliance in QuickBooks Online (QBO), @EB2016.

SecurityMetrics is an official partner of Intuit. They provide streamlined PCI DSS compliance services for QuickBooks Payments accounts. PCI compliance is required to protect your business and customers from theft and fraud.

The PCI Security Standards Council created the PCI DSS Standard to sufficiently protect customer payment card data from suspicious actions. As a merchant, you’re responsible for protecting payment card information.

Choosing not to use the PCI service will have no disruptions to your business with QuickBooks. However, any company that handles cardholder data, whether to process, store, or transmit, must meet PCI compliance requirements to ensure that payments are safe and secure.

Moreover, I recommend reading out to SecurityMetrics support so they can further investigate the issue behind why you're unable to access the account. You can contact them through this link and clicking Contact Us.

I'm also sharing this article for detailed information about the QuickBooks Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) compliance: Learn about QuickBooks PCI Service.

I'm still available to assist if you have further questions regarding compliance or any other questions by adding them in the comment below. I'll be sure to help.

Thank you ! I can’t do security matrix contact/ support because when I click captcha it says it failed . It’s just a box clicked. But it failed .  I cannot complete a profile because I’ve never received the email to verify my email and I’ve. Checked spam and so far this all I’m certain of. I’m definitely not certain what protection PCI offers as it is certainly not clarified in any way.
I am certain my stripe account has level 1 PCI. Compliance . I send nothing to no one for credit card payments quick book sends it automatically. I store no information.

We use stripe which level one PCI compliance stripe merges with our e-commerce QB does not.

we do not store cc info the invoice and pay link are emailed through  quick books for call in orders  and customer pays themselves and this is all I know. There’s no clarity on protection

If a customer ONLY takes payments through QuickBooks online payments, then isn't QB the one who has to be PCI compliant?

You won't find an answer to your question here, this is all just a marketing push to get you to sign up for their third party "compliance" provider, whether you need it or not:

We already have a PCI Compliance certificate dated 9/19/2024 from payment brands. Will that suffice?

Thank you for joining this conversation, catjeansmith. Allow me to chime in and answer your question about your PCI Compliance certificate.

PCI Compliance ensures that companies handling credit card information maintain a secure environment. For more details, visit this article: Learn about the PCI DSS Compliance Services.

Your PCI Compliance certificate should be sufficient for QBO as long as it aligns with their requirements and you maintain the necessary documentation. I recommend contacting our support team to confirm whether your PCI Compliance certificate will suffice for your platform. Here’s how:

  1. Sign in to your QuickBooks Online company.
  2. Go to (?) Help.
  3. Select Contact Us, then select a topic to connect with the right expert.
  4. Select your preferred way to connect.
