reactivating/renewing my payroll subscription

Thanks for joining this thread. I'm here to help you find the Gear icon, Khloe.

Before anything else, could you please provide information about the specific QuickBooks product you are using? Are you referring to QuickBooks Desktop or QuickBooks Online?

In QuickBooks Online, you can find the Gear icon in the upper-right corner of the QuickBooks home page. Here's a sample screenshot to help you locate it.

Now, if you're about to reactivate your subscription, you can still follow these steps.

  1. Navigate to the Gear icon.
  2. Select Account and Settings.
  3. From there, select Billing & Subscription and choose the option to Resubscribe.
  4. Review Subscription summary, then enter your payment info and payment method.

Let me know if you have more questions about locating options in your book. Take care and stay safe.

reactivating/renewing my payroll subscription

Having the same issue, when I try to update or renew my subscription it just loads forever with zero progress. I've done this from 2-3 different computers in my office and the outcome is the same. This is completely unacceptable with over an hour wait time on the phone line. We are a small office and our payroll clerk is only part time, you're asking me to have her stay here all day while you try and figure out something that is very crucial to our operations. I have employees that depend on getting these checks, you not only look unprofessional but you make me look bad at the same time!

Let me make it up to you by ensuring you'll get the support available so this gets taken care of.

Since the steps didn't work, I understand you have contacted support multiple times, but I'd recommend contact to our QuickBooks Support Team again for further assistance. Here's how:

  1. Sign in to your QuickBooks Online company.
  2. Select the Help (?) menu.
  3. Choose the Assistant tab.
  4. Click the Talk to a Human option.
  5. Select Get help from a human.
  6. Click either the Chat with us or Have us call you button.

However, if you're using QuickBooks Desktop, you can still follow these steps.

  1. Click the (?) Help icon in the upper right-hand corner of the dashboard.
  2. Select Talk to a Human.
  3. Enter a short description of your concern and press Enter.
  4. Click the I still need a human.

reactivating/renewing my payroll subscription

Hi there. I'm here to provide you the steps on how you can update your credit card information in order to renew your payroll subscription.

To begin with, let's sign in to your account as a primary admin, then go to your Billing and Subscription page to renew or update your payment method.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Settings menu, then select Account and settings.
  2. Select Billing & Subscription.
  3. Choose the Edit option next to your payment method. Please note that QuickBooks only accepts the following debit and credit cards: Visa, Mastercard, and Amex
  4. Update your credit card info and ensure the address in QuickBooks is the same as the one on your credit card statement.
  5. Select Confirm card or Save.

I've added a link that contains more information about changing billing information: Manage billing, payment, and subscription info in QuickBooks Online

Also, if your account was canceled and you need to resubscribe, follow the steps in this help article: How to resubscribe and reactivate QuickBooks Online.

Keep in touch if you need further assistance with your subscription, or if there's anything else I can do for you. I've got your back. Have a good day!

This solved it for me.  Copy your payroll key, and paste the same key back under ADD.

Asinine, yes, but it worked because I accidently tripped across this thread after fussing around for an hour and waiting on hold for 30 minutes only to be summarily disconnected by an agent who had to get his call numbers up in India and pretended, he did not hear me.

" You’ll just need to refresh your payroll through re-validating service key. Here’s how:
Go to Employees>My Payroll Service> Manage Service Key.
In QuickBooks Service Keys window, click Edit at the bottom.
Take note of the service key and select Add.
Enter the service key you’ve noted o the service key field.
Select Next and then Finish.
When the Payroll Update message appears, select OK.
Verify the Service Status shows Active and then select OK.

And I'm asking myself, "Self? Why in the name of the mother of all things Evil am I still using this software? It has been improved not one single iota since Y2K.  Just new makeup, chrome, glitter and lipstick.  Nothing worth the exuberant gouging, predatory prices because NOTHING matters at Intuit except making the stock go up, and because of all the competition now, no way to do that except to squeeze existing clients dry and try to move them to the lesser than online product all the whilst tripling the price by disabling 3 year desktop license, now only good for 1 year.  That's a 300% price increase.  700 a year for one user.  Dear Lord, please help me to find a way out of this Intuit prison because woe is me and it is so aggravatingly slow and old and expensive I am considering going back to the DOME book that takes 30 minutes a week, or to work for someone else and let them deal with payroll.

@ItDriveMeKuKu

please help me to find a way out

You can use QB Desktop with a non subscription license + a stand alone payroll app (i.e QB Online Payroll or a 3rd party payroll app). You will register your payroll expense as JE in QB Desktop.

Thanks for getting involved with this thread, kaeti.

In QuickBooks Online, you can locate your Gear icon to access the Account and settings area at the top-right corner of most screens, like your Dashboard.

Here's a screenshot showing my Dashboard (Home) screen, and the Gear icon in my top-right corner of the page:

After clicking your Gear icon, you can reactivate a Payroll subscription.

Here's how:

  1. Go to Account and settings.
  2. Access the Billing & Subscription tab.
  3. Click Resubscribe for Payroll.
  4. Review your Subscription summary.
  5. Enter the payment method and details.
  6. Select Resubscribe.

I've also included a detailed resource about working with Payroll subscriptions which may come in handy moving forward: Reactivate your subscription

Please don't hesitate to send a reply if there's any additional questions. Have a lovely Friday!
