Start in QuickBooks at Reports | Employees & Payroll | Summarize Payroll Data in Excel

When prompted, select the 8846 worksheet:

It seems you may be referring to Form 8846, which is used to calculate the Credit for Employer Social Security and Medicare Taxes Paid on Certain Employee Tips, Carl.

I'd like to clarify that QuickBooks Desktop does not generate Form 8846 or its worksheet, but it allows you to create payroll reports with the necessary data, such as tips and payroll taxes paid on tips. You can use these reports to complete Form 8846 manually.

To create a payroll report in QuickBooks Desktop, here's what you'll need to do:

  1. Go to the Reports menu and select Employees & Payroll.
  2. Choose Summarize Payroll Data in Excel.
  3. Enable Macros if prompted.
  4. Select Options/Settings to customize the workbook settings, then click OK.
  5. Enter the date range and select Get QuickBooks Data.

For more details on exporting reports to Excel, refer to this article: Export reports as Excel workbooks in QuickBooks Desktop.

@MirriamM  RE: I'd like to clarify that QuickBooks Desktop does not generate Form 8846 or its worksheet,

Really?  So, it's had the 8846 worksheet for 20 years and now somehow it doesn't?  That's news to all of the rest of us...
