I have gone into my Payroll Item List and updated our Unemployment Tax Rate for 2021 but it doesn't allow me to update the Taxable Wage Base per employee. It is still showing last years wage base.
Hey there, NorthsireTire.
I'm happy to help you out with information on our latest payroll updates including the Taxable wage base. I've checked our last payroll update, and it appears we haven't updated the rates and limits yet. There will be another payroll update later this month to address the updated wage base. Once updated, QuickBooks will automatically pro-rate based on payrolls that have been ran already this year, so you won't need to worry about manually changing any information.
I suggest checking out our latest payroll news and updates for updated information on what was updated and addressed in our recent updates.
If there's anything else I can do to help, please, don't hesitate to post here anytime. Thanks and I hope you have an excellent day.
The SUTA for 1st Q 2021 appears to have been calculated with the wrong taxable wage base for Missouri. I have one employee who went over the limit in March. The limit is supposed to the $11,000 but it calculated the tax on $10,000. How do I correct?

I have gone into my Payroll Item List and updated my Unemployment Tax Rate for 2021 but it doesn't allow me to update the Taxable Wage Base per employee. The TX Taxed Wages is $54,180; however QB has it set to $9,000. I see in other questions that this should be done in Payroll Update later this month but looking back to last year, I see that it didn't get changed there. Not sure if I'm looking at the right Payroll Item.
Let me share some information about the Taxable Wage Base per employee updates, RFLinc.
You'll receive a letter from your state about the changes in your rate and wage limit. We're unable to modify your State Unemployment limit. QuickBooks Desktop automatically enters the new wage limit once we receive updates from the Tax Agency. This ensures we stay compliant with your state tax laws and regulations.
Also, the wage base limits are updated by the payroll tax table and we don't have a specific time frame yet when we'll be rolling out the new update. Just ensure that both QuickB009hjcR54oks Desktop and the payroll tax table are updated. You can check out these articles for future reference in handling your state wage base limit:
