Using Desktop version with Enhanced Payroll. I want to verify that I have e-filed my W-2 forms with the SSA. I have not been yet set up to e-file with the IRS. (In process) But it says I do not need to register to file with the SSA. I choose to e-file the W-2s and it seemed to work. But I have no way to know that the info went to quickbooks and then on to the SSA.

I checked my tracking number in QB e-filing history and printed it. Then I received my confirmation email with a Different tracking number. Should I be concerned? I truly believe I only filed one time.
Hello there, KNSDLL.
I'm here to provide some additional clarification on your question with filing W-2 forms electronically in QuickBooks Desktop.
The tracking number showing within the QuickBooks program is for internal tracking when e-filing forms. We use this to check the status of the forms filed within the system.
IRS also have tracking numbers to verify filings sent from individual and business customers. If you still want to reach out to the IRS E-File Help Desk for verification, I'm adding the link I recommend:

I need to file our 2019 year W2/W3 taxes to the IRS website because we have over 250+ it requires to E-file (EFW2) but it has to be that format. Quickbooks only provides me pdf. version, How can I save the W2 file in the right format to then upload to the BSO IRS website?
Hi Joshua71!
Thanks for joining this thread. Allow me to assist you in filing your W-2s.
QuickBooks Desktop Payroll has its own electronic service in filing payroll forms. We're unable to generate EFW2 in the system. However, SSA has detailed instructions on how to prepare and file it directly to their system. Please check these links:
In addition, you can use the PDF file from QuickBooks Desktop as your reference when filing it to SSA.
Moving forward, I suggest you file the W-2 within the system. Here are the articles on how to do it:

Hi, I have submitted W-2 forms via e-filing to SSA using Quickbooks desktop. However, I can't remember if I selected all the employees to submit. How do I check how many W-2s have been submitted? the efiling history doesn't have this information.
thanks
Welcome to the Community, Zoeleanne.
Let me share some information about your W-2 forms in your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).
If you have submitted your employee's W-2 forms via e-filing them to SSA using your QBDT Payroll Assisted, kindly follow the steps I’ll provide below:
Or if you were using QBDT Payroll Enhanced to submit your W-2 forms, follow the steps below:
However, if you still cannot find your submitted W-2 forms. I recommend verifying and rebuilding your data in your QBDT. In this way, the tools will find the common issues in your company file and fix them using the rebuild tool.
In addition, if you have followed the instructions provided above and still cannot locate your forms, it is possible that your W-2 forms have not been accepted by the IRS. I recommend waiting a few more days until the IRS has processed your W-2 forms.
Refer to this article for further information on the viewing of the submitted tax forms: View your previously filed tax forms and payments.
You can visit this article to gain more knowledge about the taxes and forms QBDT files on your behalf: Understand the taxes and forms that QuickBooks payroll submits for you.
Post your additional concerns with viewing your W-2 Forms in QBDT in this thread. I’ll be here to assist you at any time. Have a good day ahead!
How to e-file W-2 forms with wages over 9,999,999.99? Can you submit through QuickBooks in batches. It's the only way we can print paper copies of them since QB's can't update their W-3 form format for wages 10,000,00.00 and up by adding the extra digit (FYI the FORM 940 prints just fine.). We have 165 W-2's 2023 wages are required to be e-filed now. How can we e-file them?
