We are using QuickBooks Desktop Assisted Payroll, and I need to report an issue with Washington PFML calculations for 2026.
The state rate is clearly published:
- Total PFML rate: 1.13%
- Employee portion: 71.43% (≈0.807% of wages)
However, QuickBooks is calculating incorrect employee deductions.
Important context:
- Because we are on Assisted Payroll, the PFML payroll item is locked and cannot be edited
- We cannot manually adjust the rate or calculation
- The system does not appear to properly account for employers under 50 employees (no employer portion required)
I have:
- Spent hours with support
- Provided screenshots showing incorrect calculations
- Been told to obtain a “formal notice” from WA State, which is confusing since the rates are publicly published
Impact:
- Incorrect employee deductions
- Incorrect quarterly filings
- Compliance risk
As Assisted Payroll users, we rely on Intuit to maintain correct tax calculations, but currently we have no ability to fix this ourselves.
Has anyone else in Washington using Assisted Payroll seen this issue?
And can Intuit confirm whether the 2026 PFML rate is correctly implemented in the system?
Any guidance or escalation would be appreciated.
