When I enter the address of my shop and the post office. QB says, it is, 8.36 miles. Google maps says the distance is 11.1 miles. Why the difference?

Thanks for bringing this in the QuickBooks Community, @PrimalOptions.

The way QuickBooks tracks distance is different from Google Maps. When using the app, it collects data about your car's location so that it measures the number of miles you drive.

On the other hand, Google Maps uses satellite to know your location up to around 20 meters. When you input your destination into Google Maps, your original estimate is made based upon posted speed limits, current traffic conditions, and the distance between your starting point and destination.

Please also take note that QuickBooks will only start tracking your miles once you turn on the Auto-tracking feature.

In case you ever forget to take your device with you, you can also add trips manually.

Thank you for the response. I do not have auto tracking turned on because I'm in a very rural location and my signal is intermittent. I had been entering the addresses manually and letting Quickbooks calculate the miles. I believe I will go back through and manually enter the miles that Google maps and my odometer tell me without entering the addresses. It is a pretty big difference between the mileage Quickbooks comes up with vs. the actual miles.
