Getting H202 error with new install of QB 2020 Contractor Edition

I am running QB 2020 Contractor Edition on Windows 10 as a "server". There is a windows share which is mapped on all users computers.
On the server the QB service user has "full control" to the qb company share.

There are about 10 users also using Windows 10 that have the quickbooks share from the server mounted by \\IP\share.

Quite often we have issues with users trying to switch to multi-user and they get the H202 error. I've ran the Quickbooks Database Manager, clicked scan and it never finds any issue.

How do I resolve this?

Getting H202 error with new install of QB 2020 Contractor Edition

Hi there, @abartonek.

I'm here to help you get past the Error H202 that you received so you and other users will be able to utilize QuickBooks smoothly.

The Error H202 means that something is blocking the multi-user connection to your server. The steps below got you covered on how to resolve this issue.

You'll need to do the following:

  • Host your own network
  • Download and install the QuickBooks Tolls Hub on your server
  • Run the QucikBoks Databas Server Manager on your server
  • Check the services on your server
  • Add services to your Windows admin group on your server
  • Configure your firewall settings on your server
  • Ping your server from a workstation
  • Add your server to your Windows host file

Please check out the instructions found in this link to guide you on how to perform these steps: Learn what Error H202 is and what to do if you see them in QuickBooks Desktop.

For your reference, I'm also adding here some great resources that contain details about resolving network and company file issues in QuickBooks Desktop, in case you need it in the future:

I got your back if you have any other questions about this concern or anything with QuickBooks. I'll make sure you're all set. Have a lovely day!
