How do I file a conversion from online to desktop

Hello, @dan96.

Let me help you convert from QuickBooks Online to QuickBooks Desktop.

There are steps that you need to set up before converting your data to QuickBooks Desktop. This ensures a smooth export.

  • Set up a security setting in Internet Explorer.
  • Run as an administrator in QuickBooks.

You can use this article to guide you with the setup. Export and convert data to QuickBooks Desktop.

Once done, you can now export your data. To do that, follow the steps below.

  1. In QuickBooks Online, go to the Settings icon.
  2. Select Export Data.
  3. Enter your reason for exporting and select Continue.
  4. In the Moving to QuickBooks Desktop section, select Learn more.
  5. Select Get started.
  6. Select Install ActiveX Control Now and follow the steps to install ActiveX. When it's finished, select Continue.
  7. Select the data you want to export and then select Continue.
  8. Review the limitations and select Continue.
  9. Enter your contact info and then Continue.

Please use this article to follow the next steps 4 and 5. Finish exporting data and verify exported data.

Also, there is a limitation when converting a file or data to QuickBooks Desktop, especially when you’re using multi-currency. To know more about the limitations, please check out this article. Limitations when converting data from QuickBooks Online to QuickBooks Desktop

Please let me know the result after exporting your data file. I'll jump right back in to assist if you need anything else. Have a nice day!

How do I file a conversion from online to desktop

Hello,

The QBO pro advisor access while using internet explorer 11 on a windows 10 or windows 7 machine no longer allows access to the client data.  You can only access the company file of the proadvisor.  I have a client that I need to be able to convert their data to desktop version.  How do we do this now?

Thank you in advance for your help.

How do I file a conversion from online to desktop

Hi there, @ centsable.

There are a few reminders that need to be checked to make sure that both Internet Explorer and QuickBooks are properly set up to allow a successful import/conversation. Please refer to this article and proceed to Before you export section for more information: Export data file from QuickBooks Online to Desktop.

In the meantime, you can use these workarounds steps below to access a specific client.

  1. Go to Gear, then Subscriptions and Billing.
  2. In the list of clients, search for the client you'd like to convert to QuickBooks Desktop and look for their associated Company ID.
  3. Take note of that Company ID and then use this URL to access their account, replacing the bit at the end with it: https://c25.qbo.intuit.com/qbo25/external/qbo4a/openCompany?internal=true&companyId=ENTER CLIENT COM...

Once done, you'll be able to follow the export procedure to get your client's data into QuickBooks Desktop.

Leave a comment below if you still need more help with converting your data in QuickBooks. I'd be here to assist you further.
