Thanks for posting to the Community, @CuttingTheEdge.

Internet files may be interrupting QBO from downloading company file data. This way, I recommend using incognito/private browsing.

Open Internet Explorer and then press Ctrl Shift P. Once done, you can follow the steps given to this article in converting your company file: Export and convert your QuickBooks Online data to QuickBooks Desktop.

Keep me notified by leaving a message below if you need further assistance. I'll be around to help. Have a good one!

I tried that and I'm still stuck at the green circle.  I can log into QBO but once I do I get no gear at the top right and the data in the middle doesn't load.  The side menu on the left loads successfully.  Here's what I've done.

I reset IE11 using Internet Options- Advanced - Reset - Delete Personal Settings as well.

I reloaded IE11 in Run As Admin

Went to settings and added the trusted sites

Ran QB Desktop 2020 in Run As Admin

Opened Private Browsing

Opened QBO and signed in

Get Green Circle

I am using Windows 7 x86 with IE11 and Windows 10 x64 with IE11 and am getting identical results

I've tried all of those steps and am getting stuck after signing into QBO.  I get the side menu but no gear or data, just a green spinning circle.  I'm getting identical results using Windows 10 x64 IE11 and on a clean install (nothing other than QB Desktop 2020 is installed, no antivirus etc.) of Windows 7 x86 with IE11.  So there's no gear to click on.  Last night support gave me the following link.

https://c11.qbo.intuit.com/app/exportdata

Using this I get the menu, I answer why I'm downloading, I click on Moving to QB Desktop?  Then I click on Download Company Data and at the bottom when I click on Get Started, nothing happens.

I wish I could make it better, @CuttingTheEdge.

Sharing the steps you've taken in exporting your company data and its corresponding results allow us to figure out where to start resolving it. But since you're still unable to export it successfully, I recommend contacting our Customer Care Support.

Someone from there can help you, hand in hand, so you can export and access your company file with the screen sharing tool they have. To contact our dedicated support:

  1. Go to Help.
  2. Select Contact Us.
  3. Enter Unable to Export Company Data in the What can we help you with? field.
  4. Click Continue.
  5. Select Start messaging or Get a callback.

In addition, here's an article you can read to learn more about our support hours and types: Support hours and types.

Lastly, I've got you this helpful article for reference about the limitation of your conversion: Limitations when you convert from QuickBooks Online to QuickBooks Desktop.

If there's anything else that I can help you with, let me know in the comments. I'll be happy to help.

My advice is not to waste time more through these trial and error methods (most of the time they don't work) but rather call them directly at QuickBooks specialized support.

They may still have some old conversion tools and with someone with expertise who has actually done this before, maybe many times for the clients. I know they will put you on hold, but this time only, it's worth waiting and lucky enough if you find someone who can actually do the conversion for you. Good luck!
