I get this error when I log on to app ios Server error status code: 403, 'forbidden' I can log on fine with desktop

Let me help you fix this error, Richard.

Application errors like this are unexpected and often occur during the execution of an application. There are several reasons why this is happening. It could be a coding mistake, server-related issues, or network conditions. You'll want to ensure that the app is updated. Once done, refresh the application.

To do so, follow the steps outlined:

  1. Go to Help & Feedback at the top menu bar.
  2. Choose Reset App Data. Then Refresh.

However, if the issue persists, uninstall and reinstall your QuickBooks Self-Employed app to refresh your device and fix any performance issues.

Furthermore, after everything is already working fine, learn how you can set up and keep track of everything using QuickBooks. Read this article for reference: Overview of QuickBooks Self-Employed

You can always get back to us if you have any questions about errors when using the applications. We're always right here to help you.

I have this exact problem. Additionally, when I tried to open the app, it prompted me to update it. Clicking that button opens the iOS app store but, of course, QBSE isn't there anymore. I couldn't circumvent the update prompt, so the app wouldn't open at all.

I uninstalled the app and then followed the instructions to re-download it but I get the message 'cannot connect to app store.'  Any other app I try to re-download comes up just fine.

Thanks for visiting the Community forum, Daniel. I'm happy to help you with reinstalling your QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE) app.

Please know that starting from March 24, 2024, the QBSE app will no longer be available on the App Store for. If you haven't installed it by then, you won't be able to find it. However, if you've already downloaded it before, you will still have the option to re-download it.

To successfully re-download the app, use the same login credentials you've used before. This will help you complete the process seamlessly. If you run into any issues, you can read this article helpful:  If there's an issue when you redownload apps, movies, or other content from Apple.

In the meantime, I suggest utilizing and opening your QBSE account using your web browser so you can continue manage your business tasks seamlessly.

Thank you for your reply.

That link for, " If there's an issue when you redownload apps, movies, or other content from Apple." takes me to a page that asks for a corporate login.

I was, however, able to redownload the app, but was again prompted to update and was unable to.  I'm using iOS 15.8.2 on an older iPhone.  Is there a way to get a functional version of the app for that version of iOS?

I'm glad you're able to redownload the QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE) mobile app, Daniel. I'll share additional insights in updating it.

Updating the QBSE app is no longer available since it'll be discontinued soon. That said, there's no other version of the QBSE app that will work on your device for updates. To learn more, check out this article: QuickBooks Self-Employed mobile app availability update.

As a workaround, you can access your QBSE account via a web browser on your mobile device and complete the task at hand.

Furthermore, you can also consider checking out the latest QuickBooks Solopreneur product. It's a similar product with more advanced features and helps you organize your business and personal transactions, track mileage, and measure your business performance.
