I NEED HELP FINDING ACCOUNT SETTINGS

Good day to you, phyllis8,

I'm here to help you locate the account settings in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

The Accounts and Settings feature helps you manage your business smoothly. From the homepage, click the Settings  icon and choose Accounts and Settings.
accountandsettings.PNG

If you need to change the settings:

  1. Select a tab.
  2. Click Edit ✏️ in a section.
  3. Select an item you want to update. Fields will appear when you select an area, and the question mark will tell you what it's for. Make your edits and then select Save.
  4. Select Done to close your settings.

Check out this article to help you personalize QBO to whatever you want: Edit company settings in QuickBooks Online.

Keep me posted if you're referring to something else. Just tag my name and I'll get back to you.

I can show you how you can view your settings in the desktop version,

You can check your settings in QuickBooks Desktop by going to the Edit menu and then Preferences. If you want to review more information about your company file or update a few information, you can press F2 on your keyboard or go through these steps:

  1. Click the Company menu.
  2. Select My Company
  3. If you want to make changes, you can click the pencil icon in the Company Information field.

To help you set up your preferences, you can view a few links on our Help Articles page.

I'm just around if you have other questions. You can also mention me so I'll be notified and get back to you. Have a great day!

You can find your settings in the mobile app by signing in to your QuickBooks Time account, tapping More (⋯), then going to Settings.

I've additionally included a video tutorial that will help guide you through accessing your settings and more:

If there's any questions, I'm just a post away. Have a lovely day!

I'll share the steps on how you can find the settings icon. To confirm, are you using QuickBooks Online? If so, access your account using a private browser or an incognito window. This browsing doesn’t store data and will help the page load without issues from temporary data.

Here's how:

  • Press Ctrl + Shift + N (Google Chrome).
  • Press Ctrl + Shift + P (Mozilla Firefox).
  • Press Command + Shift + N (Safari).

After that, go back to @MaryLandT's steps to see the account settings. If it's working fine, you'll want to clear the cache of your regular browser.

However, if you're using QuickBooks Desktop, your settings are found on your Preferences (Edit menu at the top and then select Preferences) page as mentioned by my peer @Catherine_B.

I've added these links below for future reference:

Please know that you're always welcome to swing by if you have other questions or concerns with your account settings. I'm always here for you. Take care and have a great day ahead.

Thanks for joining in on this thread, Mher.

I'd like to give details about your concern.

If you're looking for the company settings in the desktop version of QuickBooks, you can follow the steps shared by my colleague Catherine_B. But if you're referring to the QuickBooks Time settings on the app, feel free to watch the video tutorial here.

As for viewing the QuickBooks Time company setting using the browser, you can find it on the left navigation menu under Customers. Here's a sample screenshot for a visual reference:

I guess there is some type of misunderstanding here.

I am looking for the company settings (the gear icon) where I can reactivate (or view) a deactivated bank account. How do I do that?

Thanks for the clarification, Mher. Specifying your exact goal will help me provide the most precise solution.

I'm here to correct the misunderstanding to ensure your goal will achieve as soon as possible.

Are you referring to your Chart of Accounts in QuickBooks Desktop? If so, you can reactivate or view your inactive accounts by going to the List menu. The Gear icon only displays if you're using QuickBooks Online. The two programs have various steps and buttons to reactivate the account.

To revive your account in QBDT, follow the steps below:

  1. Go to the List icon on the upper left side.
  2. Press Ctrl + A to open the Chart of Accounts.
  3. Check the Include inactive box in the bottom part.
  4. Hit the mark beside the inactive accounts to make them active again.

mark beside the inactive accounts to make them active.

Did you know you can hide and add account numbers into QuickBooks? To find out how to do this, please see: Learn about the chart of accounts in QuickBooks.

Further, check out these articles below on how to reconcile your bank accounts and modify bank feed settings in QuickBooks:

Please let me know if you need further assistance in managing your bank account. I'm happy to help you. Take care, Mher.
