New Ads Blocking HOME PAGE - PPP Applications! NO WAY TO GET RID OF THEM!

Once again, Quickbooks is STUFFING up my home page with ADS.

I pay for this application and I don't need ads.

This has been pushed within the recent days.

My daily backup failed and I restarted Quickbooks.

Now I have a Paycheck Protection Program AD, spanning across the top of my HOME PAGE with no way to get rid of it. It's taking up way too much real estate and now I can't see the bottom row of my HOME PAGE.

A) Tell me how to get rid of this NOW.

B) Stop putting this frigging ADS on my desktop. I pay for this program. Just STOP. If it doesn't stop I'm going to be seriously looking at switching to another product.

Hi there, @Ads Suck.

The ads in QuickBooks are designed to guide you on how to optimize your QuickBooks Desktop experience. You can click the X or No, thanks button. This will prevent the pop-ups from showing up again.

You can visit our Product Updates to check the QuickBooks updates.

In case you need to learn some tips in managing your QBDT, you can always check our Help articles page. There, you can read some of our great resources and use it for future reference.

Keep on posting if you need anything else. Have a great day!

The options for displaying this ad are completely UNACCEPTABLE.

The large majority of us applied for the PPP way back in the beginning of APRIL.

In fact, our company received our PPP money and is now past the 8 weeks to use it and we are now patiently waiting for another 9 days so that we can apply for loan forgiveness.

So, if the only way that I can get rid of this AD is to illegally apply for another PPP loan is completely and utterly HOGWASH.

GET RID OF THE AD NOW or give me a way to OPT OUT.

Just the sheer fact that you are NOT giving me the option to OPT OUT infringes so many marketing regulations.

GET RID OF THE AD NOW!!!!

I completely 1000% agree with this! Get it OFF my Home page! I too already applied for a loan as well and don't need you prohibiting my ability to complete my work proficiently. I cannot see any icons at the bottom of my home page. I am so MAD! GET RID OF THE BANNER OR GIVE US A WAY TO CLEAR IT OUT! I will not hesitate to report your company not only to the SBA for encouraging people to double apply for loans but to the BBB and any other place I can think of! Do you people seriously not think these things through before you do them? Whomever not so bright idea this was needs to be reconsidered for there ability to produce marketing ideas that don't piss your customers off!

Yeah - I totally agree. Intrusive ads make me feel like a sitting duck for your marketing. Not good.

THERE IS NO 'X' TO CLICK ON!

Please see the attach .png screenshot.  This is really annoying, it generates a script error every time I log on to Quickbooks, and as well, takes up real estate which is limited due to remote working.

Please help us get rid of this stuff!!

In addition, this causes a script error every time I log on to QuickBooks, in addition to taking up screen space, which is limited due to remote access program limitations.

Thanks for following on this thread, @CCampbellBookkeeping.

I appreciate you for adding a screenshot about the issue. This gives me a better picture of what’s showing in your company file.

To ensure you can use QuickBooks seamlessly, let’s configure the settings on the Preferences window and the Internet Explorer browser. Allow me to assist you in performing the troubleshooting steps.

To change the General setup:

  1. In your company file, go to the Edit menu to select Preferences.
  2. Tap the General menu on the left panel to access the My Preferences tab.
  3. Mark the box for Turn off popup messages for products and services.
  4. Once done, click OK.
  5. Then, restart QuickBooks for the changes to take effect.

Next, open your company file and check if you still encounter the script error. If yes, let’s configure your internet settings and set Internet Explorer as the default browser. Here’s how:

  1. Open Internet Explorer.
  2. From the Command Bar, select Tools.
  3. Select Internet Options and choose the Security tab.
  4. Click Trusted Sites and click on Sites.
  5. In the Add this website to the zone field, type in *.intuit.com, and click on Add.
  6. In the Trusted sites window, uncheck Require server verification.
  7. Close the Trusted sites window and uncheck Enable Protected Mode.
  8. Close the browser.

For more information about the process, see the Set Internet Explorer to be your default browser article. It outlines the complete steps on how to configure Internet Explorer 11.0. Also, it has a link that lists all operating systems and browser version combinations that will be supported by Microsoft.

I'm also a link that provides an overview about ad blocking and how it affects the business: What Is Ad Blocking.

If you need further assistance performing any of these steps, leave me a comment below. I’ll get back to help and make sure this is taken care of for you. Have a good one.

Did you ever get anything to work to get rid of the PPP loan ad?   Nothing seems to work

Thanks

I am getting "tips" on my homepage every time I am on it. I can X out of them but they pop back up.  It says "Discover seasonal hiring tips". I chatted with someone from QB's, they had no idea what I was talking about, said they had to search further and then disconnected from the chat. We do not hire seasonal employees and going to Preferences did no good.

Hello there, Krillema.

I do appreciate your time in contacting our Phone Support Team to help you get rid of the Ads.

Aside from turning off the pop-up in your company preferences, you'll want to configure the Internet Explorer default browser. Before doing so, you update QuickBooks Desktop first to get the latest features and fixes to common issues within the system.

Here's how:

  1. Click the Help menu and select Update QuickBooks Desktop.
  2. Go to the Update Now tab and check the Reset Update checkbox.
  3. Select Get Updates to start the download.
  4. When the download finishes, restart QuickBooks.

I also suggest reaching out to our Phone Support Team again if the same thing happens. They can open a case and investigate the issue further.

Let me know how the other troubleshooting steps works. Take care!

Really?  This has got to be the craziest advice.

#1 -- If you were forced to update the Desktop version -- it was hell to find a version. Quickbooks won't actually sell you one.

#2 - If you call customer support to try and update, you get the run around for hours -- with absolutely no recourse except to buy your update from Amazon or another retailer.

#3 -- Quickbooks is trying to FORCE all SMALL businesses into their more expensive subscription model OR FORCE all SMALL businesses to the more expensive ONLINE version with less features.

#4 - Quickbooks for some god forsaken reason still forces you to use the incredible SLOW and SECURITY risky Internet Explorer.  That browser has been DEAD for years now.  So one is FORCED to enter ones security credentials into the biggest security risk application in existence.

#5 -- Just UGH.
