Error 1723 during istallation of Quickbooks Desktop

Hi!

I'm from the company's IT department and I'm giving support to the users which work with Quickbooks Desktop.

Recently I tried to move the Quickbooks Desktop installation to another computer. I used the migration tool provided by Intuit for it. Unfortunately it didn't work at all. The tool quit after a few seconds without any error message.

Then I tried to install manually on the new computer and got the message:

Error 1723: There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A DLL required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personel or package vendor.

Action VerifyIfBetaVersionIsInstalled, entry VerifyIfBetaVersionIsInstalled, library: C:\Windows\Installer\MSI65C9.tmp

I guess the failed install with the migration tool may be responsible for the error. Any suggestions how to get over it?

Best regards

Jürgen Mayer

Error 1723 during istallation of Quickbooks Desktop

Good day to you, Juergen. I'm here to provide some troubleshooting steps to fix the installation issue of your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) company on a new computer.

A damaged Windows installer may cause the error message you've encountered. Let's perform the troubleshooting solutions to fix this problem.

Let's start by editing the permissions in your Windows %temp% folder. Follow these steps to proceed:

  1. On your keyboard, press the Windows key to bring up the search field.
  2. Type %temp%, then click Enter. The Windows TEMP folder opens.
  3. Open Properties.
  4. Go to the Security tab on the Properties window, then tap Edit.
  5. Highlight your Windows username. Under the Allow column, put a checkmark on Full Control.
  6. Click OK twice, then reinstall QuickBooks Desktop.

If the issue persists, you can use the QuickBooks Toolhub to fix this problem. It is designed to fix various issues in QBDT accounting software. 5. When the installation finishes, open the Tool Hub on your Windows desktop.
  6. Select Program Problems and click Quick Fix my Program.
  7. Run the QBDT program and try to open your company file.
