File Doctor

I'm trying to open Quickbooks and it keeps prompting me to download the latest version of file doctor to continue. I've confirmed and reinstalled the latest version of quickbooks multiple times.. Ive gone into the toolhub and ran Quick Fix, and attempted to run the file doctor, however it looks like its unable to fix my file and just creates a back up..

Can someone help me please?

I've checked our records and haven't seen any open investigation of this one, User277.

Since you've tried the necessary troubleshooting steps that could resolve the problem, and yet the issue persists, I would recommend contacting our Technical Support to take a closer look into your account and investigate the issue further.

Here's how:

  1. Go to this link: https://help.quickbooks.intuit.com/en_US/contact
  2. Select your product.
  3. Enter a short description of your concern.
  4. Then, follow the on-screen instruction to complete the process. You'll then be connected to our specialist.

Here's an article you can read to learn more about our available support: Support hours and types.

Also, as you continue working with QuickBooks, you can open the topics from our help articles in case you need related resources in the future.

If there's anything you need assistance with, let me know by adding a comment below. It's my pleasure to help. Take care!

Which QB Desktop year version do you run?

How big is your file size?

File Doctor

Hi Swains,

I got you here, and we'll do some steps to get rid of the File Doctor prompt.

First, you'll want to download the version of QuickBooks Toolhub. This program is a collection of tools that can help resolve major issues and errors that a user might face while working in QuickBooks Desktop. For the best experience, we recommend using this tool on Windows 10, 64-bit. Here's how:

  1. Close QuickBooks.
  2. Download the most recent version (1.5.0.0) of the QuickBooks Tool Hub
  3. Open the file you downloaded (QuickBooksToolHub.exe).
  4. Follow the on-screen steps to install, then agree to the terms and conditions.
  5. When the installation finishes, double-click the icon on your Windows desktop to open the tool hub.

Once done, it's time to run the Quick Fix my File and QuickBooks File Doctor utility:

  1. From the tool hub, select the Company File Issues tab.
  2. Select Quick Fix my File.
  3. Once the process is completed, click OK and then open QuickBooks again.
  4. If you're still receiving the same message, go back to the tool hub, then click the Company File Issues tab.
  5. Select Run QuickBooks File Doctor.
  6. Choose your company file from the drop-down menu.
  7. Select Check your file (middle option only), then click Continue.
  8. Enter your QuickBooks admin password, then hit Next.

If the same thing happens, I'd recommend contacting our technical supports by following the steps provided by my colleague, GlinetteC.

Lastly, I recommend reading this article to learn how to resolve common data issues and errors: Fix company file and network issues.

Keep me posted if you need more help in accomplishing your other tasks in the program. I'll always have your back.
