Hi there, samphors1,
QuickBooks Online (QBO) automatically backs your data up with the same level of security used by banks and financial institutions. And, automatic backups are performed every night. Check out the Do I need to back up my data with QuickBooks Online? page for additional information.
On the other hand, only QBO Advanced allows you to easily create a backup. However, restoring it into QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) is not an option. You need to put it back to QBO and manually migrate the data to QBDT.
There are some steps you need to perform to accomplish this task. Before proceeding, here's what you need to consider:
Also, before proceeding to the migration process, you'll want to learn how data converts to the Desktop version.
Move data to QBDT:
Step 1: Set up security settings in Internet Explorer.
Step 2: Set up QuickBooks Desktop for the export.
Step 3: Prepare to export your QuickBooks Online data.
Step 4: Finish exporting your data.
Step 5: Verify your info exported correctly.
Step 6: (Optional) Cancel QuickBooks Online.
Please refer to this article: Export and convert your QuickBooks Online data to QuickBooks Desktop. It includes complete details of each step outlined above. Make sure not to skip any of them to have a smooth export.
If you're using other versions of QBO, you'll have to follow the steps provided above on how to directly move your data.
Let me know if you have follow-up questions, and I'm always around to help you out. Thank you and stay safe!
My QB don’t see backup like my hight light
It's nice to see you here again in the Community, @samphors1.
I've got some information to share about why you're not able to see the backup option on your QuickBooks Online account.
The option to create a back up is only available for the Advanced version of QuickBooks Online. If you have the SimpleStart, Essentials, or Plus version, the option will not be visible on your end. Thus, you can migrate your data directly to QuickBooks Desktop.
In doing this, you may follow the steps provided by my peer, MaryLandT above on how to move your data to QBDT.
You can also refer to these articles below about the complete details of exporting your data and what are the files that can be converted from QBO to the desktop version:
Let me know if you have any other questions about this or if you need anything else. I'll be around to help. Take care!
