Hi there, motherwellresour.

To transfer data from one desktop to another desktop, you'll need to create a backup copy of your company file from previous desktop and restore it into your new QuickBooks desktop.

Here's how to Backup of your company file:

1. From the File menu, select Back Up.
2. On the following dialog window, select the folder where you want to store your backup file (.dmg). NOTE: It's a good idea to save backups somewhere other than your main local drive in case of a system failure.
3. If you have a file hosting service (such as DropBox), flash drive or other removable media, you may want to select it here.
4. When you have chosen, click Start Backup. The name of the backup will be your QuickBooks filename with the date and time the backup completed.

Please follow the steps below on how to find and restore a backup (.dmg) file in QuickBooks for Mac.

Locate first the .dmg file.

1. From the QuickBooks menu, choose Preferences.
2. Select Backup.

If the backup is not on a specified folder, I suggest to use the spotlight search. Follow the instructions below.

1. Choose the Magnifying glass \uD83D\uDD0D icon.
2. In the search field, enter .dmg, then select Show all in Finder.

Once done, Restore a .dmg file.

1. Double-click the .dmg file. A new page opens with your company file and available attachments.
2. Drag the company file and the Attached Documents Library folder (if there is) to the folder where you’ll store the company file.Note: a company file has a .qbXXXX extension.
3. Select File. Then choose Open Company to restore the file.

Please check this article on how to restore Attached Documents and for mac.qbb file: Restore a backup (.dmg).

Please know that you're always welcome to post if you have any other concerns. Wishing you and your business continued success.
