Get 50% OFF QuickBooks for 3 months*
Buy nowHello,
My client had Quickbooks Desktop Pro and recently switched to Quickbooks Online plus. After uploading the initial desktop back-up file, it was discovered that the incorrect desktop back-up file was uploaded into the new Quickbooks Online Plus account. No other data back-up file is available
We were working with the Quickbooks online team to get access back for Quickbooks Desktop 2023.
It was our understanding that the client had read-only access for its Quickbooks Desktop 2023 Pro Plus subscription for one year (therefore, the client did not renew their Quickbooks Desktop subscription), but that is not the case. We were told that we could download a 2024 Quickbooks Desktop Enterprise trial file to reaccess the Quickbooks Desktop 2023 data. However, we keep receiving messages that this file need to be installed by the administrator (whem we are logged into the administrator's account).
If we were to pay for a month-to-month subscription to reactivate the desktop account, would we be able to access our data and migrate the correct data file over to our Quickbooks online account?
Appreciate any information or suggestions that folks can share.
Thank you very much

Please note that view-only access is available for QBDT Windows 2023 R3 versions and later. If you have the correct version, you can contact our support team for further assistance. Feel free to read this article to see how you can reach them: Contact QuickBooks Desktop support.

Additionally, yes, you can opt for a month-to-month subscription to reactivate your subscription, but it's not necessary since you can utilize the trial version of QBDT to restore the file or migrate the file using the online tool.

As I know, the policy of accessing company files for 1 year after cancellation only applies to QB Desktop 2024.

Can your client access CAMPS as Primary Contact and find their old QB Desktop 2023 license there?

If using the trial version of QB Desktop 2024 didn't solve your problem with the Admin password, purchasing a new license of QB Desktop 2024 Enterprise won't help you either. If they can access CAMPS as the Primary Admin and find their old license there. Don't try to resubscribe yet. I know of another lower cost option to reactivate the license if needed.
