move Quickbooks to new computer

I'm moving Quickbooks, desktop from my old computer to a new computer. I followed all steps from migrator and I got " We've copied all we need " message from old computer. When I plug the USB to the new computer I only found the file " Move_Quickbooks " without the end .bat and when I doubled clicked the file is .exe.  What con I do or what am i doing wrong> since the computer does everything by it self. Thank you

move Quickbooks to new computer

Good to see you here in the Community, @Pasta Gluten Free.

I can share some insights about moving your company file to a new location.

Just to make sure I'm on the same page with you, after you run the Move_QuickBooks.bat file from your flash drive, did you get a prompt to enter the password you created? Any information you can share is extremely helpful for us to narrow things down.

In the meantime, you can re-run the .bat file and see if the same thing happens. Please note that the duration of the migration will depend on the speed of your computer and internet, and the size of your company file. You can get the steps here: Move to or reinstall QuickBooks Desktop on another computer.

If the migration tool does not work for you, you can reinstall your QuickBooks on the new computer using the manual download. Just make sure you have the most recent backup copy of the company file.

To download the program on your new computer, follow the steps below:

1. Go to the Downloads & Updates page to get the download link.

2. Enter your CountryProduct, and Version.

3. Click the Search button.

4. Select the Download button.

Next, you can proceed with installing the program. You can get the complete process in this article: Installing QuickBooks Desktop

Once QuickBooks is installed, you can now restore the backup copy of the company file from the old location to the new computer. Here's how:

1. Go to the File tab.

2. Choose Open or Restore Company.

3. Select Restore a backup copy, then Next.

4. Choose Local Backup, then Next.

5. From the Look In the drop-down, choose the location of the backup file.

6. Click the backup file from the folder. The file name should appear as [Company Name].qbb.

7. Select Open, then Next.

8. From the Save in the drop-down, choose the location where you want to save the restored file.

9. In the File name field, type a new file name.

10. Select Save.

If you keep getting the same issue, I'd recommend the following solutions outlined in this article: Using the QBInstall tool.

For additional reference about setting up the server in your personal computer and/or laptop, check out these links for the detailed instructions:

• Set up and install a multi-user network for QuickBooks Desktop

• Install QuickBooks Database Server Manager

Please know that I'm only a few clicks away if you have any other issues or concerns. I want to make sure everything is taken care of for you. Have a great weekend!
