Join nowI have an end point PC in a network where the a server is hosting the company file using QB server manager and the 3 PC's navigate to a mapped Q drive that shares from that server.
I notices on one PC it was automatically popping into "host multi user access" when the server is already hosting it itself on the network, which is causing bottleneck issues and slow speeds.
i turned it off- works fine, still automatically pops back on when the PC launches QB desktop.
this keeps happening, i think the PC thinks its the host.
i tried to reinstall with the 1st of 3 options selected; 1st is install quickbooks desktop only, second is install quickbooks desktop and server manager, and the second is to just install server manager.
i chose the 1st? and it still installs the server manager, regardless of what option i pick- and pops the software into host automatically.
im pulling hair out here- why cant i uninstall server manager as a stand alone uninstall and why does it keep freaking installing it when i specifically tell it not to.
regardless of what i do
Hi there, @WilliamB89.
I can provide troubleshooting to fix the issue with QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) Server manager keeps installing.
The issue might be due to remnants of a previous Server Manager installation that caused the situation. With that, we can perform the clean install process to rename your QuickBooks folders to fix company file issues.
Before you proceed with the clean install process, you'll need to disable the QuickBooks Server Manager from the Task Manager. You can also work with an IT professional for further guidance.
After that, let's proceed with the clean install process. See the steps below:
If you get an access error message when you try to rename the folder, visit this article reference with the steps you need to take: Clean Install QuickBooks Desktop.
I'm attaching this article for future reference about the tasks you can perform in single or multi-user mode: Features Available and Tasks You Can Do With a Single or More Than One License.
Feel free to comment again in this thread if you have clarification about managing your QuickBooks Server manager. I'm always around to help you.
Just to clarify- i am not trying to take down their server, i am attempting to prevent 2 seervers from fighting.
the issue is this end point point PC keeps hosting the company file when it is running on a different machine and the company file is being hosted by server manager on a separate server.
This comapny uses a SDK process to process sync functiopn that imports data into quickbooks software on the local machine. This function keeps locking up and freezes- i think the reason for this is probably because the server is still showing as on the endpoint.
this PC should simply have quickbooks on it and navigate to a mapped drive that is shared and a company file that is hosted on a separate server.
So i do not want to effect this company file in any way; we shouldnt need to do anything to the company file, since all this PC is doing is accessing the QBW on the network.
Thanks for clarifying your PC and server setup, WilliamB89. I can guide you to our experts to manage your database server efficiently.
I understand you wanted to utilize the SDK process to sync data into QuickBooks and resolve the issues between them. Since you've done a clean install, I recommend reaching out to our Support Team. They can pull up your account securely to further check the setup and ensure they function appropriately.
