I just purchased quickbooks online. I was using 202 quickbooks pro . My old version is frozen. I have a backup file I want to install into quickbooks online to use. How do I do this??
Hello Andy!
When migrating data from QuickBooks Desktop to QuickBooks Online, you'll need to do it from the desktop interface. QBO is unable to use a backup file to import your data. I have a couple of options for you.
Option A:
Fix the freezing behavior in QuickBooks Desktop using the QuickBooks Tool Hub, so you can move your data to QBO. You can contact our QuickBooks Desktop Support if the issue is still not resolved, provided that the product is still a supported version (2020, 2021, and 2022).
Option 2:
You may ask someone in your area who has QB Desktop Pro or Premier to restore your backup. Then, move your data to QBO. You can find a ProAdvisor near you if you don't know someone who has QB Desktop. This is also an ideal approach especially when your files were backed up from a very old/retired version.
I'm just a comment away if you need more assistance with transferring your data to the online platform. Take care!
Are you using QB Desktop 2002 or 2020 ?
