Upgrading to QB Mac 2022 desktop

We have a Mac desktop running QB for Mac 2019. We have one license and I (office manager) use the desktop. My boss, the other user, has QB for Mac 2019 on her laptop using our license and has her own personal account on there. How can I be sure she can upgrade to QB Mac 2022 desktop when I upgrade our main desktop computer?

Upgrading to QB Mac 2022 desktop

I appreciate you reaching out here in the Community, @officemanager07. I’ll share some information about upgrading your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).

When you upgrade your desktop version to 2022 on your Mac computer, you’ll also need to upgrade the software on your laptop. Also, make sure that your computer meets the system requirements for the updates.

To manually update your QuickBooks Desktop for Mac, here’s how:

  1. Click the QuickBook drop-down menu and choose Check for QuickBooks Updates.
  2. Select Install Update for the available newer version.
  3. Tick Install and Relaunch.
  4. QuickBooks for Mac automatically opens after the update is complete.

You can refer to this article for any other way of updating your software: Update QuickBooks for Mac to the latest release.

Once the update finished, proceed with closing and re-opening QuickBooks Desktop. Select Yes, to install the updates. After that, restart your computer when the install finishes.

Feel free to leave a comment if you need further assistance with upgrading your subscription. I’ll make sure to get back to you as soon as I can. Stay safe!

Sorry, maybe my question wasn't clear. We use Mac computers (no Windows). I just want to know how to be sure the upgrade for QB Mac Desktop 2022 can be installed in our Mac laptop as well as our Mac desktop.

Upgrading to QB Mac 2022 desktop

Welcome back, @officemanager07.

I'm here to help make sure you can upgrade and install QuickBooks Desktop for Mac 2022 into your Mac laptop and Mac desktop computer.

Once you upgrade your QuickBooks Desktop for Mac to the 2022 version, you'll want to ensure your laptop and computer meets the system requirements. If it does, you can purchase the QuickBooks Desktop for Mac 2022 software and install it on your laptop and computer.

Then, you can transfer your data from your QuickBooks Desktop for Mac 2019 by creating a backup copy of the company file and restoring the data to your new QuickBooks Desktop for Mac 2022.

The steps to restore backups in a Mac file are listed in this article: Restore your backup company file for QuickBooks Desktop for Mac

Hi, I have successfully upgraded from 2019 to the 2022 Desktop for Mac on both an iMac and a MacBook Pro.  Both are running the most current OS 12.3.1.  I was able to install the software using the same license on both computers.  I do not have multiuser mode, but I can open the company file saved in the iCloud files from either computer, just not at the same time.  I'm not sure how you were each accessing the company file in 2019, but for me, I can access the company file the same way using the 2022 version as I could with the 2019 version.
