Recovering QB when computer crashes

My desktop crashed and at present we're waiting to see what we can recover. I can't seem to get an actual person at QB to help me reinstall QB on a new computer and recover my files. I have QB Plus Annual subscription PRO, and I have online file back up. Any help is appreciated. I can't get anyone to chat with me on support for desktop. The online chat support answered but gave me an incorrect link for help with desktop. I'm super irritated that I can't talk to someone in support to walk me through this.

Thanks,

LIZ

Thanks for posting in the Community, @LizTalleyWriter.

Reinstalling your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) on a new computer is pretty easy. Just make sure that you have your product and license info available. Then, download your version of QBDT and save the file somewhere you can easily find it.

Once done, here's how to install it:

  1. Open the file QuickBooks.exe you downloaded.
  2. Follow the onscreen instructions. Accept the software license agreement and then select Next.
  3. Enter your Product and License numbers. Then tick Next.
  4. You have two options for installing QuickBooks: express, or custom and network.

After that, QuickBooks will ask you to activate and update it. If you need detailed steps, please refer to this article: Activate QuickBooks Desktop for Windows.

Also, to recover or restore your backup file, please refer to these steps:

  1. Open Intuit Data Protect, then select Restore from Backup.
  2. Enter the date and time of the backup you want to restore.
  3. Choose the file/s, select Continue.
  4. Pick the location for the restored file, then choose Restore.

Yes, it will, @Gunny79.

All we need to do is prepare the product and license number of your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) software. Then, download your version of QBDT

Once done, enter the product and license number. For the complete details, you can refer to the steps and links shared by my colleague FritzF above.
