If you have a 2009 version of QuickBooks Desktop Pro, you'll need to upgrade to the closer version before 2021 to avoid file damage. You can do this by getting the trial versions of 2012, 2015, and 2018.

- Select the Help menu.
- Choose QuickBooks Desktop Help.
- Hit Contact us.
- Enter Upgrade from QuickBooks 2009 to 2021, in the Tell us more about your question box.
- Click Search.
- Choose either Call us or Message us.
