Why isn't there a way to turn off ads in QBO?

This never gets old now that I’ve cancelled all intuit products over ads.

Love the “to help users understand there are additional features to have a better experience” reply.

it completely ruins the the experience!!!!

Last day I used QBO I counted 7 times I had to click x on the book keeper ad.

on desktop I’d have to block the ads hostname,

Charles_M,

Please don't placate me with your trite responses and work arounds. Remove the pop-ups for paying customers!

"QuickBooks use pop-up ads to make the users aware that there are available features that they can take advantage of to have a better QuickBooks experience."

This is NOT intuit telling us about a feature, this is intuit using kid logic to get the candy.

Child: "Can I have it?" , Parent: "no!"

Child: "Can I have it?", Parent: "No!"

Child: "Can I have it?", Parent: "NO!"

Intuit: "Would you like sign up for this feature?", Customer: "no."

Intuit: "Would you like sign up for this feature?", Customer: "No!"

Intuit: "Would you like sign up for this feature?", Customer: "NO!"

Please tell me how hounding the customer relentlessly is helping me have a "better QuickBooks experience". I know at this point there is no reason to have this conversation with intuit. They do NOT listen to their customers and never have. I wish I wasn't stuck with QBO...

I couldn't agree more. The *BS* about "the better QuickBooks experience" is sad and embarrassing. Let's hope they grow up, or that competition with more respect for the customers will arise. I feel I have been insulted enough.

We all have sent endless feedback--does anyone read it? I don't see any evidence of that.

Anything new on this? For as much as we spend on the product, we definitely don't need the constant push for signing up for more stuff....  Just make a tab for "More from Intuit"

Good day, clarkejay

Having that one option for additional QuickBooks services is a great idea. I recommend sending your feedback directly to our product engineers so that they can incorporate it into future updates.

Here's how:

  1. Click the the Gear icon at the top.
  2. Choose Feedback.
  3. Enter your comments or product suggestions.
  4. Select Next to submit feedback.

Our product development team will receive and review your valuable suggestion, along with the other feature requests from other users.

You can also check out this link to track feature request: Customer Feedback for QuickBooks Online.

If you have any further questions, please let me know and I will gladly assist you. Thanks for reaching us again, and have a wonderful day!

7 times?  That sounds like heaven to me, I have to fumble through these ads for each and every monthly invoice I have to send.  Over 100 at minimum.

The point of course is that we shouldn't have to fight the software we pay a subscription for.  They should create a free account option and upsell those accounts and let those of us that are paying for the service actually make use of the service we are paying for.

I totally agree.

Like I said in earlier in this topic, 20 year user, 3000/year I was paying on enterprise. Had to get into the cloud and QBO was terrible.

Switched to another software at the 1st of this year and they haven't tried to sell me anything additional and haven't put a single ad in the software while I'm using it.

They are know what they are doing, have an army of advisors pushing their product, own the market... but it show's they are all about the dollar and not paying customers. That alone made me switch, I don't care about the cost, I just can't use software that force's these ads on me all day. Why I pay for Youtube.

Switching was the best thing I ever did, haven't looked back. Takes a few months to grasp a new software but now I can't imagine using QBO at all. Would switch to a pen and paper ledger before I did.

Would it make a difference if we started calling support asking for instructions on how to turn the ads off, and then complaining? It would at least use up their resources...

They got me on this exact nonsense, I am having to very carefully watch what I'm pressing because of the minefield of ads, popups and upsells they are laying around everything I do.  It was sneaky and incredibly disrespectful to paying customers to deliberately try to trick us into spending more.

It is truly unbelievable that Intuit FORCES users to endure these outrageous ads, for software that WE ARE PAYING FOR!!  What is wrong with this company?  I've been a software engineer for 30 years and have never seen anything like it. And it's getting worse - now there's an ad banner at the top that is constantly there with no way to close it.  After being a user for 4 years, I've finally had enough, and will get rid of this horrible company as soon as I can export all of my data, which I'm sure they'll make difficult or impossible.

Just migrated from QB Desktop to Online.  Not thrilled so far.

Continuous Push Ads on a Paid-For SaaS software?  Cheesy.

No PO's in Essentials?  PO's are a basic business function.

I appreciate you for joining the thread, @oi18ct.

Please know this isn't the experience we'd want you to have. I would feel the same if something on my screen kept popping up while working. You can ignore the advertisements by clicking the No, thanks, or X icons. If you're using Google Chrome, you can visit this page to learn how to get rid of those ads: Block certain ads.

In case you're using Safari browser, these are the steps to prevent those ads from showing up on your screen:

  1. Open your Safari browser.
  2. Click Safari, then Preferences.
  3. Select Websites at the top.
  4. Click Pop-up Windows on the left sidebar.
  5. Then select Block in the pop-up menu for the website.

Also, yes, you're right. The Purchase Order option isn't available on QBO Essentials. You'll need to use QBO Plus or QBO Advanced to use this feature. Feel free to check this article if you wish to upgrade your current subscription: Upgrade or downgrade your QuickBooks Online subscription.

In addition, I've got you this article to help you manage purchase orders inside your company: Create and send purchase orders in QuickBooks Online.

@oi18ct, if you got any other QuickBooks-related concerns. Please don't hesitate to post here again. I'll be more than happy to assist you. Take care, and have a nice day!

Why isn't there a way to turn off ads in QBO?

It's not the pop-up ads in the pure sense, it's how QBO spam is baked into the product. I just logged in and am looking at the "Get things done" or "Workspace" home screen. 6 of the 14 clickable actions are not part of our software subscription, but are upsells for other products and services. Almost half is spam ... this is completely unacceptable.

If you don't believe me, here goes. Legitimate actions that are part of our subscription: 1. Manage Customers, 2. Create Estimates, 3. Send Invoices, 4. Pay Bills, 5. Review Transactions, 6. See Reports and Trends, 7. Manage Taxes (I think, we don't use this), 8. Talk to your Accountant.

And then there's the spam:

1. Add Products and Services (upsell to QuickBooks Commerce)

2. Receive Payments (upsell to QuickBooks Checking)

3. Get Funding (upsell to QuickBooks Capital or QB partner lenders)

4. Track Time (upsell to QuickBooks Payroll)

5. Manage Payroll (upsell to QuickBooks Payroll)

6. Get Business Banking (upsell to QuickBooks Checking)

Let's not forget the notifications icon with the little red dot. No need to ever look at it because the only notifications there are more spam.

If you want to spam your customers and annoy them, at least do it by email like everyone else does. We can at least unsubscribe from that. To bake it in the product that we are paying you to use .. inexcusable.

Not helpful Kurt.

i shouldn’t have to click no thanks or an X to close out advertising for a product I pay monthly fees for.

The answer by Kurt is so unhelpful and repetitive, on the face of the tons of evidence we have been presenting here for months, that one wonders why you are even bothering. Are you actually reading our posts? No offense meant, Kurt, if you are an actual person, but I am beginning to wonder if we are corresponding with a ChatGPT entity...
