Why isn't there a way to turn off ads in QBO?

Any of them are better than QBO. I choose xero and like I said it's so much easier to use without all the advertising. There is no advertising at all and a much cleaner interface.

I'd suggest trying them all and making a list of the pros and cons as everyone's needs are different.

The problem with Intuit is they have an army of advisors that make a living off you using their product so they feel they can't lose the market.

I paid intuit 1000's of dollars every year for two decades and last couple years was over 3000.00 annually. The ads are what made me jump ship. The QBO product without the advertising still leaves a lot to be desired. The Intuit company of 2000 is very different than the company today. By far the worst I've used and would rather go back to pen and paper to do my accounting than give them another penny.

These ads make me HATE quickbooks.

While this has been marked "solved", it is anything but. Intrusive and annoying ads, upsells and other spam are baked into QBO.

We should not have to endure adware when we are paying for a subscription to the product.

Every time you close an ad, submit feedback with the note "closed an ad". Overwhelm them with ads.

I went to the feedback site and searched for "ads." This is what I found (titles):

  • Add setting to disable ads / recommendations 26 votes
  • STOP THE CONSTANT ADS 2 votes
  • Stop putting ads on everything 4 votes
  • Stop with the pop up ads already! 2 votes
  • STOP the constant ads on my DASHBOARD 1 vote
  • ads 1 vote

I signed in and added my vote to each of them. Maybe if we all do the same we can capture their attention?

Hi, could you please share which software you switched to?  I find Intuit's ignorance of this issue deeply disrespectful.  The distractions constantly impact my productivity.  Intuit's response of saying "use a pop-up blocker" is useless run-around because these are pop-OVER ads.

As a side note, you actually *can* get rid of these if you use the Chrome browser and are allowed to install extensions.  There is an extension called "stylish" which lets you selectively modify elements of a page.  This is the script I've developed to address these:

*.marketing-ipd-tsa-widgets{ display:none !important; }
*.explore-products-container-wrapper{ display:none !important; }
*.card-content-qbchecking-promo{ display:none !important; }
*.capital-loan-application-card-container{ display:none !important; }

I see that there are options to close the payment option....and I do every time.  I agree with many that this advertisement is a waste of my time to keep closing when I will not ever use this service.

I see that worked out well. 4 years later, $200/month, and I still get stupid advertisements from Intuit.

@leah-kim

We can share some options to consider. We can also have an option to lower your conversion cost if required. Contact me in private for details.

Hello, Did you have any luck finding a comparable program? I'm over the greed of Quickbooks with its endless ads.

No I haven't...and it keeps asking me to sign up for payments and I don't want to.  Everytime I send an invoice i have to go through 'finishing signing up' stuff....I didn't sign up and I don't want to.

Desktop is so much easier....why can't they mirror that into QBO?

I have been a QB user for over 35 years, when it first came out.  The longer I use it the less likely I am to continue.  The cost, hassles, just not worth it.

Zoho Books is looking pretty good. We have been testing. Zoho One includes quite a few applications for the same price as QB. Zoho seems to be always working on and implementing helpful features.

Looking forward to making the change!

I’ve been looking into zoho as well.

Switched to xero a few years ago and there is no advertising and overall I’m happier but they do not develop new features and there’s a couple that are much needed.

You can purchase a 3rd party service to convert your data from QBO. Another option, convert your data to QB Desktop file and use the trial version to access your historical data for good. Then you can start from scratch in a new program to lower your conversion costs.

I like that idea. I will definitely look into it. I've noticed that exporting isn't ideal in QBO.

If I was using a free version of quickbooks I'd be ok with the ads but when your on a subscription being charged monthly I want a switch to shut the ads down!
