Join nowif a client uses the accountant version of quickbooks, can they send me an accountant copy and I make changes as normal and send a change file back to them for import?
Thanks for becoming part of the Community, TLLCPA.
Your client can send you an Accountant's Copy of their company file by creating it and giving it to you.
If they're using any Advanced Inventory features, they'll need to turn them off initially. Afterwards, they can generate an Accountant's Copy.
Here's how:
Now they'll have a copy of their company file that can be given to you. They can transfer files to you by putting them on a USB drive, attaching them to emails, sharing through a cloud-based service, or etc. There's also an Accountant's Copy File Service which can be used to send it.
I've included a detailed resource about working with the Accountant's Copy of company files which may come in handy moving forward: Use the Accountant's Copy

Zack,
Thank you for your response. As confirmation, it does not matter if the client is also running an accountant's version of QB? The creating of an accountant copy function works the same as if they were using a normal pro/premier version while I am using the accountant version? Can you please confirm my understanding?
Hello there, TLLCPA.
I can help provide clarifications about the Accountant’s Copy feature in QuickBooks.
You’re correct. The process to create an accountant’s copy works the same way if you’re using the Pro or Premier version of the desktop program. You’ll have to make sure that the copy and QuickBooks Desktop versions are compatible. This is to ensure you can successfully import the changes to the client’s file.
For more details, you can browse this article: Use the Accountant's Copy. It provides detailed information on how to use the feature as well as its limitations.
This reference will also guide you on how to securely send and share an accountant's copies between accountants and clients in QuickBooks Desktop: Learn about the Accountant's File Transfer Service. From there, you’ll see the benefits of using the tool.
