Admin Password works on one Company File, but not another.

Simplified versions of the situation:

I have two Company Files...A and B.

I have two users Admin and Fred.

Fred can successfully open both A and B.

Admin can only open A, and get a password failure when trying to open B.

Same occurs on hosting computer and on other computers in the network (using Multi-User Mode).

Why can't Admin (yes...THE Admin) open Company File B?

Welcome to the Community, @Jay0333. I'll point you in the right direction for support with your concern about the login credentials for your admin user in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).

I suggest contacting our Technical Support team for assistance in this matter. They can pull up the account information for your admin user, and investigate why he's unable to log in to one of his QBDT company files. Open this article for the steps: Contact QuickBooks Desktop support. It includes their hours of operation, so you know when they're available.

I'll also share this article with you: Stay logged in to QuickBooks company file (sign in without entering your password). It allows QBDT users to stay logged in to the QBDT company file, as long as they're using the same Windows user account.

Feel free to press the Reply button and leave a comment below if you have other questions about the log in process in QBDT. I'll get back to you as soon as I can. Have a great day!
