Barcode Scanner

Hello!

I recently started working at a pool store and I am having trouble with the barcode scanner we have set up here. 

When I am scanning a barcode into a Sales Receipt, Invoice, etc, the program then sends us back a page to the previous invoice. We have tried a number of things and we cannot figure out what the problem is. We are just trying to make a faster experience for us and the customer! We are tired of the hassle of having to go back and find the Sales Receipt or the Invoice. Any help is appreciated! 

 

I have selected QuickBooks Desktop but here we are using the Premier edition.

I'm here to lend a hand about your barcode scanner concern. 

 

When using the barcode scanning feature in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT), let's ensure that your scanner is compatible so it will work with QuickBooks and the following formats are meet:

  • The scanner must support EAN-13 (International Article Number, formerly European Article Number) and Code-128 barcodes.
  • The scanner must produce a single carriage return at the end of the barcode.

Once verified, enable the barcode option on your QuickBooks Desktop. Here's what you'll need to do:

  1. From the Edit menu, select Preferences.
  2. On the left pane, scroll down to Items and Inventory, then go to the Company Preferences tab.
  3. Select the Advanced Inventory Settings.
  4. Go to the Barcodes tab, choose Enable barcode, then select Open Barcode Wizard.
  5. Decide if you want QuickBooks Desktop to create new barcodes for you.
  6. Select Next and Finish, then OK on the wizard windows.
  7. Select OK twice to close the Advanced Inventory Settings and the Preferences window.
