Thanks for choosing QuickBooks Online for your business, @KATE1466.
As an insight, QuickBooks is designed to track a business's income and expenses only. See this article to learn more about connecting bank and credit card accounts to QuickBooks Online.
Additionally, you'll want to explore Quickbooks Self-Employed (QBSE) to combine with your personal finance. It is a standalone product that helps you manage personal and business transactions on a single platform.
Feel free to view this article to know more about how QBSE works: QBSE Overview.
If you need anything else, please let me know. I'm always around here to assist you more.

Thank you for your response! Can I generate 1099’s in QBSE?
Thank you for your response to my question! Can I generate 1099’s in QBSE?
Thanks for getting back to this thread, @KATE1466. Let me provide some insights about generating 1099 in QuickBooks Self-Employed.
QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE) is designed to track your income, expenses, mileage, and tax info to help you file an annual return and pay estimated tax quarterly. However, creating 1099 forms inside the program is unavailable.
As a workaround, you can log in to our E-file service (standalone) website. This way, you can add your details and file their 1099-MISC forms to the IRS.
Here's how:
You can also review our 1099 E-file service fees on this link: http://payroll.intuit.com/additional-services/1099/efile-1099/.
If you want to generate 1099, please refer to this article for more information on how to create and file 1099s using QuickBooks Online.
Additionally, let me attached this link to guide how to file 1099-MISC forms using an e-file service.
I'm always here if you have any other concerns in creating and sending 1099's to your contractors. Take care and have a great rest of the day!
Your answer was very helpful, thank you so much!!
I have one more question, if I upgrade to QBSE will my linked accounts and all the work I’ve put into those transfer or do I need to start from scratch?
Hello there, @KATE1466. We're glad to have you back.
QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Self-Employed are two different versions.
When you switch from QuickBooks Online to QuickBooks Self-Employed, all your linked accounts and data will not automatically transfer to QBSE. We cannot directly convert or upgrade QuickBooks Online to QuickBooks Self-Employed or any other version
Yes, you're correct. You'll have to start from scratch. You'll want to export bank transactions using a .CSV file and import them into QBSE. You can check this article on how to export list data in QBO. Then, import your .CSV file into QBSE. Here's how:
Also, I'd like to add a few details about the difference between the two products.

I have QuickBooks Desktop Pro Plus 2022 (which I believe is QBO) - so can I access QBSE?
Thanks for joining us, @LJD66.
Let me share some insight about accessing QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE). As mentioned by my peer @SarahannC, QuickBooks Online (QBO) and QBSE are two different versions. You'll want to subscribe to QBSE and use the same login credentials so you can access your QBSE account.
Please refer to my peers post above for more information about importing transactions and the QBSE Overview.
I'm also adding this article for details about product comparison:
If you wish to subscribe to the QBSE version, just click on the Buy now button on the above link.
For additional reference, feel free to check this guide. It has steps to export your QBO reports and lists and can easily download or import them to the new program: Export reports, lists, and other data from QBO.
I'll be right here if you need help with anything else, so don't hesitate to reply. Take care and have a great day ahead.
QB Desktop, QB Online, and QB Self Employed are three different products.
