In QB24, if I go to make a General Journal entry and click on a bank account or an interest account (for example), a small window opens showing all of the available accounts. The one you choose gets highlighted with a solid dark blue bar. It is so dark that on a list you cant tell what it says under the highlight so you cant read which one is highlighted. I want to change the color of the highlite to something lighter.
I have looked through the setting and edit menu but can't find anything that addresses this.
Can anyone help?

Let me help you change your desired background color, rtv2023.
To change the view of your company file, you can select either Light Mode or Dark Mode.
To do this, here's how:
Additionally, QuickBooks will use the accent color you have chosen in the General System Preferences for its buttons and icons. This means that the registers, forms, reports, and lists will all display in Light Mode.
In registers, you can assign a color by choosing from a list of colors that work well in both Dark Mode and Light Mode, or you can select one from the palette. When you pick a color, the register content and alternating rows will update to appear in that color. Whatever color you choose will apply to that register until you change it.
For reports, you have the option of viewing your content with a dark background or light background. The dark background will be displayed by default while in Dark Mode, but you can change this by navigating to Preferences, Reporting, and under the General tab unchecking the box labeled Use dark background for report content.

I can help you determine why a dark highlighted color appears when selecting a bank account, @rtv2023.
The dark blue highlight occurs due to the high-resolution settings on your Windows system, which can impact the QuickBooks application.
To adjust the display settings for the QuickBooks app, let's open it's file location:

I wonder if you can help me with a similar problem. I think the fix will be different. I have set the Accent and Highlight colors to green and the Appearance as Light in my Mac OS. I can see these colors as I navigate my MAC OS 13.2.1 as well as in Quickbooks Mac Plus 2024 V23.1.5 R6B. When I see the green accent color in my check register I can see the transaction information (for example in my check register) but when I go to reconcile the account the accent color obliterates the type beneath it making reconciliation very difficult. Of course the OS “highlight color” can be made lighter but the OS “accent colors are dark and solid. I have attached a sample of the OS “accent color” as it appears in a bank register and in the reconciliation screen. Thanks so much for taking a look.
Thank you for joining the discussion and sharing the screenshot, @mecm. I'd like to help adjust the display text in your QuickBooks for Mac to improve readability.
Based on the image, it seems the text color may be affecting the visibility of transaction details on the reconciliation page.
To address this, let's perform these steps:
You can also customize lists in QuickBooks for Mac to better organize your data and enable sorting by specific fields.
Feel free to post again in the thread if you need any further assistance with adjusting the Accent and Highlight colors. I'm happy to help improve readability.
Thank you for working on this issue with me. I have register colors set and Allow Color Text unclicked. I am able to read my register with the color I have chosen inside QB. Also the OS highlight color I chose is very light and only highlights the date in the check registers.
The OS accent colors are all opaque. I chose green but have tried all of them to see if this issue with the reconciliation would resolve with a different color. It does not. When I open Chart of Accounts in QB (note “Administrative Exp” in my previous sample) and navigate down the list you can see that the type changes to white to make it readable through the accent color. However, in QB when I try to reconcile an account the chosen transaction is blacked out because it obliterates the black type. The type does not shift to white as it does in other areas of the QB program. In the Reconciliation sample there is a transaction under that green accent color but you cannot read it. If you look very closely you can see there is black type below it. So, experientially, when I see the transaction to be reconciled in the list of transactions I click it and the green accent makes it unreadable. If I need to doublecheck the transaction it required me to move the curser so the accent color is removed but then the next transaction I click is unreadable. It would make sense to have the type switch to white as it does in all the other areas of the program when an accent color applies. I did not choose the shift to white type. It seems to be a function of the program that was not carried through to the reconciliation screen.
Hoping this explanation is clearer and that you might be able to help. Many thanks
Thanks for taking the time to share your concern in detail, mecm. Let me help you send your comments to our product development team.
I can see how having control over the user interface can help the program's readability, especially when handling important transactions and ensuring your accounts are reconciled. However, the option to change text color throughout the program is currently unavailable in QuickBooks. That said, I recommend sending your thoughts and comments through the Feedback section. This way, our product development team can take note of the need of this functionality and consider adding it in future updates.
Here's how to send feedback:
In the meantime, I'll leave this article on modifying preferences in QuickBooks to allow the program to work the way you need it to: General preferences for QuickBooks Desktop for Mac.
I'll also share this article on reconciling your accounts to help with the matter: Reconcile workflow.
I'm more than happy to cater any other questions or assist with any other concerns you may have in QuickBooks, mecm. Let me know through the comment section below and I'll get back to you as soon as I can. Keep safe!
