Changing Classes modifies items on Sales Orders

The most recent updates to QuickBooks sem to have created a bug. When I go to change ort update the Class field, it will wipe out my shipping line on Sales Orders.

The way that it works now, a customer places an order on my website, the order downloads via a connector and creates a Sales Order in QuickBooks. Once the orders are downloaded, we go in and update the Class. When we do that, it zeroes out the amount field in the shipping line. Does anyone know how I can get it to stop doing that?

Thank you for reaching out, Topher. I know how essential it is for QuickBooks to function correctly, especially when it comes to managing sales orders efficiently. Let's work together and use the Tool Hub to resolve this issue so you can get back to managing your business.

Before we proceed, could you please clarify what you mean by the amount on the shipping line?

  4. Once installation is complete, open the Tool Hub by double-clicking the icon on your Windows desktop.

Changing Classes modifies items on Sales Orders

RE Your question: “Before we proceed, could you please clarify what you mean by the amount on the shipping line?” I mean the actual dollar amount. When my orders download from my website, they include a line item for “Shipping” which adds the shipping cost. When we change the “Class” designation for the orders, the dollar amount on the shipping line gets wiped out to $0.

Changing Classes modifies items on Sales Orders

Hello, @topherfarrel, thank you for getting in touch with your inquiry. I'm pleased to provide some insights in managing sales.

Before the QuickBooks Desktop update, there were no problems. You mentioned the shipping cost changes when you change classes, but it shouldn't. Changing class lists in QuickBooks Desktop shouldn't affect the shipping amount. If you have ongoing issues with data transactions, here's a guide to help fix potential problems with QuickBooks Desktop.

For error messages or unusual activity in QuickBooks Desktop, use the Rebuild and Verify Utility. This is the first step in resolving data issues:

Run the Rebuild Utility:

  1. Open the QuickBooks Utilities menu and click Rebuild Data.
  2. Click OK if asked to back up your company file.
Note: If you see "QuickBooks is not responding," don't worry. As long as your mouse moves, Rebuild is still working. Just wait.

        3. When you get the message that Rebuild is done, click OK and go to the next step.

Run the Verify Utility:

  1. In the QuickBooks File menu, go to Utilities and click Verify Data.
  2. Click OK if you see "QuickBooks detected no problem with your data" and continue using your company file.
  3. If Verify finds a problem with your date, you'll see see options to Rebuild Now or View Errors .
  4. Click Rebuild Now .

If this doesn't fix the issue, please refer to this article and be guided properly: Fix company file and network issues with QuickBooks File Doctor.
