Changing Classes modifies items on Sales Orders

The most recent updates to QuickBooks sem to have created a bug. When I go to change ort update the Class field, it will wipe out my shipping line on Sales Orders.

The way that it works now, a customer places an order on my website, the order downloads via a connector and creates a Sales Order in QuickBooks. Once the orders are downloaded, we go in and update the Class. When we do that, it zeroes out the amount field in the shipping line. Does anyone know how I can get it to stop doing that?

Changing Classes modifies items on Sales Orders

RE Your question: “Before we proceed, could you please clarify what you mean by the amount on the shipping line?” I mean the actual dollar amount. When my orders download from my website, they include a line item for “Shipping” which adds the shipping cost. When we change the “Class” designation for the orders, the dollar amount on the shipping line gets wiped out to $0.

Changing Classes modifies items on Sales Orders

Hello, @topherfarrel.thank you for getting in touch with your inquiry. I'm pleased to provide some insights in managing sales.

Prior to the update of QuickBooks Desktop, everything was running smoothly. You've noticed that the shipping cost alters when switching classes, which is unexpected. Altering class lists in QuickBooks Desktop is not supposed to impact the shipping charges. If you continue to encounter difficulties with data transactions, here is a guide to help you address and resolve possible issues within QuickBooks Desktop.

For error messages or unusual activity in QuickBooks Desktop, use the Rebuild and Verify Utility. This is the first step in resolving data issues:

Run Rebuild Utility:

  1. Open the QuickBooks Utilities menu and click Rebuild Data.
  2. Click OK if asked to back up your company file.
Note: If you see "QuickBooks is not responding," don't worry. As long as your mouse moves, Rebuild is still working. Just wait.
  3. When you get the message that Rebuild is done, click OK and go to the next step.

Run the Verify Utility:

  1. In the QuickBooks File menu, go to Utilities and click Verify Data.
  2. Click OK if you see "QuickBooks detected no problem with your data" and continue using your company file.
  3. If Verify finds a problem with your date, you'll see see options to Rebuild Now or View Errors.
  4. Click Rebuild Now.

If this doesn't fix the issue, please refer to this article and be guided properly: Fix company file and network issues with QuickBooks File Doctor.

Thank you for running the rebuild utility, @topherfarrell. Allow me to offer an alternative solution to address your issue.

We need to download and install The QuickBooks Tool Hub, which is useful for correcting typical errors. Before using the tool hub, make sure to exit QuickBooks. For optimal results, it is recommended to use the Tool Hub on a Windows 10, 64-bit environment.

Here's how to do it:

  1. Close QuickBooks.
  2. Download the latest version (1.6.0.8) of the QuickBooks Tool Hub and store the file in a location that's easy to access, such as your Downloads folder or your desktop.

Note: If you've previously installed the Tool Hub, you can check the version you have by selecting the Home tab; the version number will be displayed at the bottom.

  1. Launch the file you have downloaded.
  2. Proceed with the installation by following the instructions displayed on your screen and accept the terms and conditions.
  3. Once the installation is complete, double-click the tool hub icon on your Windows desktop to open it.

Note: If the icon is not visible, search for QuickBooks Tool Hub in Windows and select the program from the search results.

Once you have access, let's go ahead and run the Quick Fix on your file:

  1. In the tool hub, choose the Company File Issues option.
  2. Then, click on Quick Fix My File.
  3. Once the process is complete, select OK and reopen your QuickBooks.
