Chose number of copies printed under the 'Print Preview' tab

Here's a good one for the pros here...

QB Contractor 2018 edition,

Under the 'Create Invoices' tab/icon there is a 'Print' tab with a drop-down menu.

The first choice is 'Preview'.

This opens a new window with the chosen invoice in the chosen template.

No problem so far.

At the top of the new window there are more tabs for; 'Print', 'Close', etc.

When I chose 'Print' it is making two copies at my printer.

I just have a feeling there is a preferences tab I can't find somewhere where I can tell

it how many copies to make.

If I chose the 'Print' tab from the main page then I have the option to select number of copies.

But under the 'Preview' tab,  it then opens another window with a 'Print' tab.

This is the tab that seems to make two copies.

Any ideas, O Wise ones?

Waiting patiently...

I have no clue

Chose number of copies printed under the 'Print Preview' tab

Thanks for sharing details of your concern, @ihavenoclue. I'm here to ensure you can specify the number of copies when printing your invoices in QuickBooks.

Let's first make sure that your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) program is updated to the latest release. This is to ensure that you have the latest components and fixes.

Once done, we can configure the printer settings and set your desired number of copies when printing your invoices. Let me guide you how:

  1. Open your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) program.
  2. Next, go to the File menu.
  3. Choose Print Forms and select Invoices.
  4. Check one invoice and click OK.
  5. From the Print Invoices window, enter the specific number you want  in the Number of copies box.
  6. Then, click Print.

To verify if the invoice will be printed according to the number you specified, let's attempt to print the form in the Print Preview window. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Customers menu.
  2. Select a customer and under the Transactions tab, open the invoice you want to print.
  3. Next, click the Print drop-down and choose Preview.
  4. Then, select Print.

Check if it still creates two copies of the invoice. If the issue persists, you can proceed in performing the printing troubleshooting steps outlined in this article: Troubleshoot PDF and Print problems with QuickBooks Desktop.

Personalizing your invoice templates to control what information your customer sees is a breeze in QBDT. To get this done, you only need to click the Formatting tab in the form.

If you have any other concerns about printing your invoices in QBDT, feel free to post again here. I got your back. Have a good one.

Chose number of copies printed under the 'Print Preview' tab

Thank you for the reply however I can not do what you are asking me to do.

I must be using a different version. There are no invoices for me to 'check'.

And the Print Preview continues to make any number of copies it wishes.

Did not help.

Print Tool was of no help either. I do not have any of the problems listed.

Chose number of copies printed under the 'Print Preview' tab

Thanks for getting back to us, @ihavenoclue.

I have more steps we can try. You'll want to check if your Windows Control Panel under the Printer section to see if you have set the number of copies to 2. I suggest checking with your IT personnel to guide you with the steps.

If you've verified the Windows printer settings, please run the QuickBooks File Doctor tool. This tool helps fix company file issues.

Here's how to do it:

  1. Close QuickBooks. Then, download the QuickBooks Tool Hub. Save the file on your Desktop.
  2. Open the file you downloaded (QuickBooksToolHub.exe). Follow the on-screen steps to install and agree to the terms and conditions.
  3. When the install finishes, double-click the icon on your Windows desktop to open the tool hub.
  4. From the launch pad, click QuickBooks File Doctor.

Once the download completes, reboot your computer. Check out this guide for details about the steps: Fix common problems and errors with the QuickBooks Desktop Tool Hub.

I'm also attaching this link here in case you need help with other QuickBooks-related tasks: View all help articles for QuickBooks Desktop.

Let me know how it goes after trying the above steps as I want to ensure this is resolved for you. Take care and have a great day ahead,
