Closing one recurrence template also closes the whole recurring template screen

We have a large number of recurring invoices templates. These have to be edited every month to update the actual month in the invoice. To do this, I go to the recurring templates list, click Edit on each one, then update it and save, or click "x" to save the popup without changing anything.

About half the time, these operations close the popup AND close the entire recurring template list. So now, not only do I have to edit these templates one by one, but I have to go back into the recurring template list, find where I was, and then continue. This only started happening for me about a month ago, it's minor but very annoying.

Extra annoying because, of course, people have asked Intuit for simple keywords like $CURRENT_MONTH$, $PAST_QUARTER$, etc. to automate this - many times, over many years - but we have never gotten this feature. So at least if this minor UI glitch could be fixed that would be very nice - thank you so much.

I appreciate you sharing your concern with us here, AndrewR1. I've got the necessary fixes to help resolve unusual behaviors when managing recurring template transactions in your account.

When running QuickBooks Online (QBO) within your regular browser, sometimes stored cache files can cause an interruption while using our features. To help you fix this, let's consider performing some troubleshooting steps to rule out the possibility of a browser issue. I'd suggest opening your QBO account in a private browser and refer to these keyboard shortcuts to open one:

  • For Google Chrome browser: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • For Mozilla Firefox browser: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • For Safari browser: Command + Shift + N

If you've successfully modified your recurring entries, you may go back to your default browser and clear its cache or use a different supported browser.

I'll also include this guide for additional inputs: Create recurring transactions in QuickBooks Online.

Moreover, here's a reference you can utilize to add specific personalization to your forms: Customize invoices, estimates, and sales receipts in QuickBooks Online.

I'll be around on this thread if there's anything else you require further assistance managing recurrence templates in your account. Keep safe and have a good one!

As I mentioned I had already tried incognito mode which bypasses all cache issues, so unfortunately this isn't of help. Anyway I completed the task, it just took many more steps to again hit gear icon, then recurring templates.

Please note also that posting Community comments and replies keeps giving "authentication failure" even after successful login. Tried with cache clear, different browsers etc. I hope this post via email link will work.. if not, I'm just giving up on Community, it's too frustrating and wasted a lot of time.
