combine a Customer Name

I would like help with combining 2 customer name's into one.  I made the mistake years ago by entering the same customer as last name, first name and first name, last name and would like to put all past transactions under the correct name.   For example:  I have John Doe listed as two separate people. One is Doe, John and the other is John, Doe.

I have found that I cannot simply change one to the other as it goes through the series of deleting deposits first, before deleting a payment or invoice.  There are 5 or so past invoices/payments and deposits under the "wrong name"

How can I fix this to have all orders fall under one name?  Also, after this is accomplished, can the incorrect customer then be deleted?

Thank you

combine a Customer Name

Hey there, @cjschulz

It's great to see you back in the Community. Allow me to provide you with some information about merging customers.

Yes, you can merge these two customers. Don't worry. It only takes a few easy steps. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Customers list.
  2. Copy the name of the customer you want to keep.
  3. Choose the customer you don't want to use. Hit the Pencil icon to edit.
  4. Paste the name you copied, and tap OK
  5. Pick Yes to merge the customers.

It's that easy! Here's a guide that can give additional insight: Merge list entries

These steps should do the trick. I value you as a customer. I hope this helped. I'm only a post away if you need me again. Take care!
