I "upgraded" to Quickbooks Desktop Pro 2020 last month, only to find my Dymo LabelWriter 450 is no longer a supported integrated application, which means I can no longer print an address label directly from a customer invoice. This is a major problem for me. Is there a fix for this issue, or is there another thermal address label printer out there that does actually integrate?
Hello there, dhunter21.
Yes, we have other supported label printers that you might want to check out. You can visit our Intuit Market and search something like label printer. All our available printers will appear. Then, we can check the reviews on how it works.
If you need further help with your existing label printer to its compatibility with QuickBooks, you can reach out to us. Here's how:
Let me know if you need more help. Take care always!
There is nothing in that markenplace link other than apps. I need an actual label printer that will work with printing an address from an open invoice in Pro 2020. All the recommended printers I find are all just used for POS.
There is nothing in the marketplace other than apps, no hardware, so that was useless.
What needs to happen is someone needs to fix the integration between Quickbooks Pro 2020 and Dymo so that the printer again functions as it did prior to my upgrade from 2018 to 2020. It should not be a big deal.
Hi dhunter21,
Placing myself into your situation, this would be tough especially if your business is about shipping goods. I got a suggestion about this since we're unable to provide information about setups for specific label printers.
I would suggest reaching out to DYMO's support to check if you need to enable something or like an Add-in, so you can extract data from QuickBooks. You can also try searching for this online (Google). Then, if you find a public post shared by other users, please follow their instructions with discretion.
I believe that searching for posts online or reaching out to DYMO's support would be our best bet right now.
If you have other concerns about printing or anything with the new QuickBooks, please don't hesitate to go back to this thread.

Jess,
I actually reached out to Dymo first. This same thing happened when I upgraded from 2016 to 2018 Pro as well, but support from either you or Dymo was able to correct the issue at that time and make the add in show up after about 2 hours on phone support.
This time, Dymo tells me that they have not been able to make the add in work since version Quickbooks Pro 2018, and the rep I spoke with acted like this was not going to be a priority (obviously since it has not worked sine 2018).
So, my question was: is there a label printer out there that actually integrates with Quickbooks Pro 2020 that I can purchase to then be able to capture and print an address from an open invoice in Quickbooks, just like I have for years until this last upgrade?
All I want is what I had right up until I upgraded. I have a membership pool of customers that all get a member card and receipt mailed to them, and the most efficient way to deal with the mailing label was to have Dymo extract the address right form the open invoice at the time of accepting payment and printing the invoice. I have 1850 customers that each get a mailed card whenever they renew throughout the year, so trying to bulk print labels or hand pick 12 out of a list of a couple thousand customers is simply, well, stupid and extremely time consuming.
It seems like a simple request. Give me a list of printers that Quickbooks allows integration with so I can buy one and move on.
Thanks, Don
Thank you for the clarification, Don.
You can visit our Intuit Marketplace and get in touch with our Sales support. This is a different marketplace than what was previously given. They can provide you a list of supported printers for integration.
We appreciate your understanding on dealing with this. Please leave a reply if you have other questions.
No help there. The sent me a link to buy labels. My request seems simple.
For those that stumble across this thread in the future, DO NOT buy a Dymo LabelWriter 450 and expect it to integrate with QuickBooks. They did for years, but if you are using the version from 2018 forward, forget it. Here is their actual response.
Dear Don,
Thank you for contacting us.
I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing issues with our product.
I have contacted my Technical Team for assistance and I regret to inform you that the QuickBooks Pro versions after 2018 are no longer supported. There are currently no plans on updating the software.

I purchased a brand new LabelWriter 450 in February 2020 to go along with my new Quickbooks Pro 2020 upgrade I was doing. I quickly found your priinter no longer integrates with Quickbooks Pro 2020, to allow me to capture a customer address directly from an open invoice, as I have done for years. I called your support and got a person who told me "Oh that has not worked since 2018, and I don't think we are going to fix it". Not the answer I was looking for. I need a fix for the problem. I cannot be a big deal. It worked fine for years until I upgraded. Awaiting your response.
Hi! Were you able to find a thermal printer that was compatible? We are having the same issue!
Can you recommend a thermal printer for my QB desktop pro 2019 for invoices?
Thank you for considering us for your printing needs, RM15. Rest assured, we can provide a wide selection of thermal printers compatible with your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) software.
Any printer can print invoices with QBDT if it is compatible with your computer and the software. To ensure the best performance and efficiency, we recommend using a thermal printer designed for printing invoices and compatible with QuickBooks Desktop Pro 2019.
Additionally, numerous options are available, and the best choice depends on your specific needs and preferences. While we can't recommend a particular printer, I can provide a list of options tailored to different requirements. This way, you can select a printer that best fits your needs.
Before choosing a specific printer, I recommend reviewing the details and capabilities to ensure it meets your needs. This will help you identify the right features and performance for your requirements.
Also, QuickBooks Desktop Pro 2019 is being discontinued, which does not guarantee its inability to print invoices without issues. The printer's compatibility with your computer and QuickBooks software depends on its driver and software updates. Thus, the latest QuickBooks version is advisable for optimal performance and compatibility.
You can check this link to the version that isn't available to new subscribers in the US: Can't buy QuickBooks Desktop as a new subscriber.

Thank you for sharing your concerns about printing invoices in QuickBooks Desktop. Let me know if you need more help with the thermal printer. I'm committed to providing the best customer service to ensure your business's success.
