Contractor expense is not showing in project summary and is throwing off my profit margin

I've read so many posts about this and have tried every suggestion but the contractor expense is still not showing up in the project summary.

When I entered the expense, I did it through the projects section.  The contractor expense account was used and the correct project is selected on the expense line.  I also un-checked the "Billable" box, since this is not billable.  But when I go to the project overview, it shows $0 cost and 100%f profit margin.  I wish!!  However, I'm pretty sure that's incorrect.

Any thoughts?

Thank you for visiting the Community today, collinscabinetry.

We appreciate the time and effort you've put into addressing the missing contractor expense. Let me walk you through some troubleshooting steps to ensure the information appears in your project summary.

Before we proceed any further, can you tell us the transaction type you use for the contactor expense? This will help identify the root cause of the issue and offer the best possible solution.

There are times when the browser gets congested with frequently visited sites, resulting in unexpected behavior in QuickBooks Online (QBO) such as unresponsive pages or missing data or buttons. Launching the program in incognito mode prevents internet files from being saved, eliminating the potential for webpage issues. Follow the steps below to bring up one:

  • Google Chrome: press Ctrl Shift N
  • Mozilla Firefox: press Ctrl Shift P
  • Safari: press Command Shift N

Once you've signed in, proceed to the Projects page and check the contractor expense. If the information shows up, clear the cache of your regular browser to start fresh and improve your browsing performance. Using another supported browser is also a great alternative.
