We have a Mac Quickbooks (.qb2016) file that was recovered from a damaged drive. We no longer have acces sto a Mac to open this file. Is there a utility we can download to covert the .QB2016 to .QBW so we can open it in Windows
The conversion process of a QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) for Mac company file requires the QBDT for Mac itself.
You'll have to look for a Mac system to start the process. If you no longer have an installer for QBDT for Mac 2016, you can download a trial version from this page: Downloads & Updates.
When you're ready, the first thing you need to do is remove any memos longer than 50 characters, or those that contain special characters.
To continue, see this article: Convert a QuickBooks for Mac file to QuickBooks for Windows. Scroll down to Step 3: Convert your company file.
I'll leave this article here in case you encounter any errors during the conversion process: Error: QuickBooks is not able to convert your Mac file to a Windows file.
Tell me if you have other questions about this conversion process in the comments below. I'll get back to you as soon as I can.
Which QBD (Windows) year version do have to open the file?
