converting existing client to my accountant billing

Hello,

I have a new client that is paying directly for Quickbooks online plus. He would like to move his subscription over to me so I can get my Proadvisor discount and pass along some savings to him. I am completely fine with this but not quite sure how to do it.

If I simply change the billing to me then a discount is not offered. My understanding is he would need to cancel his account and then I would add a new account and bring all his data over. Seem like a lot of work

Any help or insight is GREATLY appreciated

Thanks

Steve

Hello there, @steveg3. Welcome to QuickBooks Community! I'd be glad to provide information about managing your client’s subscription in QuickBooks Online.

You can upgrade or downgrade your clients' subscriptions. It’s an option available for clients both billed by your firm or otherwise.

Please know that you can change a firm-billed client’s subscription between QuickBooks Essentials, Plus, and Advanced, but not from or to Self-Employed. You also can't downgrade a firm-billed client's QuickBooks Online subscription to Simple Start.

To upgrade a client’s subscription level, here’s how:

  1. Follow these steps and make sure your firm’s billing and subscription info is up-to-date.
  2. In QuickBooks Online Accountant, go to Settings and then Subscriptions and billing.
  3. Select the Your subscriptions or Accountant-billed subscriptions tab.
  4. Look for your client.
  5. From the Select action ▼ dropdown, select Upgrade

To downgrade a client’s subscription level, here’s how:

  1. Review and learn what happens when you downgrade a QuickBooks Online subscription. Your client may need to turn off certain features before you can downgrade them.
  2. In QuickBooks Online Accountant, go to Settings and then Subscriptions and billing.
  3. Select the Your subscriptions or Accountant-billed subscriptions tab.
  4. Look for your client.
  5. From the Select action ▼ dropdown, select Downgrade

Additionally, can check this article to know more about upgrading or downgrading a client’s QBO subscription.

Also, I’ll be adding this link for future reference. It has everything you need to know about ProAdvisor preferred pricing.

I’m always ready to assist you if you have any other questions or concerns with QBO. Tag me in your reply and I’ll sprint back into action. Have a good one and keep safe.

You did not answer the actual question.

The question was mainly about transferring a client billed account to accountant billed.

The question had nothing to do with upgrading or downgrading the subscription.
