Cost for Software Upgrade

I have QB Premier Plus NP 2022. I was told that our cost for a software upgrade is going from $549.99 to $800 (45% increase).  This is a sizable increase for us.  Can I opt not to get this upgrade and stay with what we have?  We are a small church and this kind of increase hurts our finances. I was offerred a migration from Intuit to go to an Internet based option which I do not want to do.  Looking for cheaper options.  Help.

I’d feel the same way you do in this situation, Increasing Cost.

I know that this price increase has a big impact on you and the church's finances. Know that we're fully committed to telling you about this business decision as early as we can.

You can stay with QuickBooks Premier Plus 2022. This system has a 3-year life cycle. Just make sure to upgrade it once we discontinue the version.

While I'm unable to say specifically which product would be best for you and your business, I can provide our sales page: Choose the QuickBooks Desktop or Online product for your needs. It shows the prices, as well as what you get with each.

On the other hand, we made these changes to continue to innovate and deliver the products, services, and support that will give you an edge both today and in the future. The upgrade includes improvements to better reflect the product value, and be comparable with internal and external offerings.

You may want to read this announcement to know more about the changes and see what value you'll get from the price increase.

I hope this helps you figure out which product will serve you the best moving forward. If you have any other questions, please come back and post below. Thank you very much for your time. Take care always!

We just paid $500 for Intuit QB Payroll Annual Fee.  So are you saying that we DO NOT have to pay the $800 in May 2023 for a software update?  You state:

"You can stay with QuickBooks Premier Plus 2022. This system has a 3-year life cycle. Just make sure to upgrade it once we discontinue the version."

If we can stay with what we currently have with no upgrade (I hope this is correct) how can we stop your automatic process to bill our credit card for this upgrade in May 2023?

@Increasing Cost

Your options are very limited. They temporarily discontinued their special pricing program for non-profit entities. If you are working solo on a desktop (PC or Mac) to manage your book and only need basic features, you should explore a free program. You can use the program for as long as you like, use all the features and enter as much data as required. There are no time limits, no usage limits, no ads (at this time). This program is quite popular in Asia and Europe.

We want to stay with our current version of QBs and DO NOT want any automatic upgrades.  Do NOT automatically bill us for any upgrades.  Can you please confirm that you will not automatically bill us for future upgrades until we request them?

You are using QB Desktop Premier Plus

Plus = Annual subscription. You have to renew annually to use it.

Welcome back to the Community.

Let me share further insights about the subscription and software upgrade for QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT), so you can manage your account accordingly.

QuickBooks Premier Plus 2022 is a subscription-based edition. You can stay with your current version of QBDT and disregard the software upgrades (if prompted) since QBDT 2022 is still supported. However, you'd need to renew your annual subscription to continue utilizing the software and add-on services, like payroll.

Moreover, you can manage your QBDT account and services with the Customer Account Maintenance Portal (CAMPs). If you wish to learn more about this, please see this article: Manage your QuickBooks Desktop subscriptions and services.

Also, you may want to check out this article as your reference to learn more about QBDT pricing and guide you on how the system helps you make financial decisions that matter for your business: QuickBooks Desktop price update.

Please feel free to leave a comment below if you have other account management concerns in QBDT. I'm always ready to help. Take care.
