Crashes on Sonoma

I did reinstall macOS Ventura 13.6, removing Sonoma 14.1, but it didn't help.  I guess my Time Machine backup brought with it all the problems that began when Ventura updated to 13.6.3.  I even took my MacBook to Apple to reset it and they reset it to Ventura 13.6.  Unfortunately when I installed BootCamp Windows 10, it blew out my macOS and when I revived it, it was back to 13.6.3.  I cannot open any company file even on a fresh install of Ventura.  Tried some of the key combinations but not the command+password entry yet. I'm suspecting that there are still some support files involved that are mucking up the operation. Similarly, a fresh install of QBDT 2019 will not even launch on the Mac Studio M2 running macOS 14.1.3.  Don't understand why this is as others have reported success.  Maybe I need a newer installer of QBDT2019?

You can install the trial version of QB Desktop 2019 for 30 days.

I finally secured a “new” installer for QBDT for Mac 2019. It does install and successfully open on both macOS Ventura 13.6.3 (Intel powered MacBook) and Sonoma 14.3 (Apple Silicon Mac Studio). But, I still could not open any of my company files. Spent much of the day with QB Support via chat and phone. Sent them a copy of my company file for them to try opening. Expect results on Monday.

So after the past few messages, I am wondering if others have upgraded to Sonoma 14.3 and been able to use QB2019 successfully. I'm good on 14.2.1 and don't want to mess things up. Thanks

Crashes on Sonoma

My QB  2019 for Mac started working on Sonoma 14.1 after Apple released that version. I have shut off my automatic Apple updates for now. The limited functions that I use: check writing, deposits, reconciling, balance sheets, and P & L statements have been working. As I was doing some year-end work the other day I tried to save a BS as a PDF to send out to others and I got the color wheel of death.  Luckily, I was able to close the company and then open it back up. I ended up saving the BS as an Excel file. I feel like I am sitting on a time bomb and especially if I update Sonoma any further I could be locked out of QB again. I don't feel safe not updating my OS long term because of all the potential hackers and viruses out there. Next week I am going to try some other software called Moneydance to replace QB 2019. Sadly it will require manually starting my companies all over again because there is no file transfer option between QB and Moneydance. Good luck and best wishes to all of the QB for Mac users out there.

I allowed Apple to upgrade my macOS from Sonoma 14.2.1 to 14.3 (yea, I know, gluten for punishment) and, good news for you I guess, is that - Yes!  QBDT2019 does in fact open without a hitch.  I still cannot open my own company files at all, so I tested the "sample" company files and was able to open them and poke around a bit without a problem. Even with the "Home" page open, which opens automatically with the sample files.

One extra bit of advice I would like to add is this: I began experiencing MacMail crash frequently immediately after MacOS Sonoma 14.3 installed. You might want to wait until they release 14.3.1 if you use the native mail application and would like to avoid the nuisance crashes.

I haven't read all the previous messages (its hard to keep track) but if 2019 is crashing with your company files but not with the sample company files my guess is that it is a particular window that is open in your company files that isn't open in the sample files.  At least that's how I'd approach narrowing it down.

Try this:

Quit QuickBooks and go to the finder to throw away the preferences. Sometimes they get corrupted.  In the finder hold the option key and choose:

1. Go-Library

2. Open the Preferences folder within the Library folder

3. In the search field on the finder window that appears type com.intuit.quickbooks

4. This should filter the window down to just the files that begin with com.intuit.quickbooks - these are the QuickBooks preferences.

5. Select the all and drag them to the trash.

6. Launch QuickBooks.  It should come up with no files or windows remembered.

7. Try opening your company file.

Has anyone updated to 14.4.1 with QB 2019, and can you confirm that all still works?

Yes...still works the same for me. I still get crashes on Deposit entries if I type the entire entry vs type part of it and then use the drop down to "find" the rest. But that happened from the very transition to Sonoma. Otherwise good to go
