great. I called in. here is how the conversation went:
they said last offering to purchase qb for Mac is 2021 which will not be getting fixed. you cannot purchase 2023 at this time or any other higher version.
since 2019 will not be fixed - would like to move to qb online?
awesome! but no thank you.
they hang up without saying bye.
I was finally able to get into QB DB Mac 2023 using this
might be hard to use the program though
You can install the trial version of QBD 2023 for Mac and use the workaround as mentioned by other users here. Then you can buy the new license through selected partners as I mentioned earlier.
I have QuickBooks Mac Plus 2023 - and it crashes. Now what?
Hi @envelopes. If you are encountering a crash, would you please attach the crash log here for our team to review and confirm if it is a Sonoma issue? 2023 reports so far have been about the Home Page related hang on file open as discussed above. If you continue to encounter a crash, please submit the crash report directly via email when prompted and reference this thread.
The crash report can be found by going to the Console application and selecting the Crash Reports section from the left-hand panel. Select the row with the recent crash and then go to File menu > Show in Finder. Please attach the .ips file here.
Intuit needs to fix 2019...Period! They broke it and they need to fix it.
Intuit needs to provide a patch for QB Mac 2019. They broke it and they need to fix it. They did not provide users of this version any warning that it would break and not be compatible. They did not provide any information on any of their versions prior to the release of Sonoma. They have the Sonoma beta and releases candidates up to the day of release and should have let people know that upgrading would be a disaster. They make enough money to have a software team that evaluates these issues for their customers.
I agree with you. but I fear that they stopped all work on app and moved every developer to online projects.
there is most likely none left to fix anything in the off line applications.
yo QB how much $ will it take from existing suffering customers to fix this? if each affected customer send you $50-$80 for a FIX of existing app - will you do it? if you do your reputation will shine again.
if they don't fix it, it's adios amigos for me. I get that every corporation needs to maximize their profits but this feels totally wrong. It has a stench of greed and indifference for those customers who have been loyal for decades.
yeah and they also know that market for MAC OS application is near to zero. I did research for options and there is literally none.
I may just go back to word or pages template at this point. and some other company can make a good entrance into this market considering what is happening.
everywhere I look it's all online and with monthly fees that will milk you dry via limitation on number of clients or items you have for business.
one word - disaster.
Reminder that we will be updating all supported versions as soon as we can test them. It takes time. But we can't risk releasing a version without testing on all supported macOSs.
In the meantime possible work arounds for Sonoma are in my earlier post. They may not work for all versions.
To those people who are saying that Intuit broke it... your QuickBooks Mac software is unchanged. We'll update where we can to fix the issues.
I have Quickbooks Desktop 2023 for Mac and it won't open and is crashing.
Upgraded to Sonoma without knowing about this issue and cannot create invoices for customers. I'm going to have to downgrade to the previous OS. Any ETA when the compatibility issue will be resolved?
Thanks so much @maxwellk2 - those steps worked like a charm on a clean install of Sonoma 14.0 with QuickBooks Desktop Mac 2020 version V19.1.16 R17.3.
EDIT: Despite clicking "Reply" on @maxwellk2 's post, my reply has been appended to the last comment on page 7. Here is the link to his answer, which worked for me: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/learn-support/en-us/other-questions/re-crashes-on-sonoma/01/1321241/hi...
Steps to work around Sonoma crashing issues (may not work in all versions):
1. Hold down the option key while launching QuickBooks. This prevents QuickBooks form opening your previously used company file.
2. Select your company file from the "No Company Open" Window. Hold down the command key while opening the file. This prevents the last used windows from opening.
3. Go into QuickBooks->Settings… Select the Toolbar & Tabs icon in the 3rd row down and then uncheck the Use Tabbed Windows checkbox.
4. Avoid opening the home page.
We will be releasing updates to supported versions as soon as we can confidently prepare and test them.
This worked for me.
To be clear, QB 2019 desktop is no longer supported?
I recently installed newest Macintosh operating system,14.0 Sonoma and now I cannot open any quickbooks files for my companies. This is a very big issue for me. What do I need to do? I tried to delete and reinstall QB for Mac Desktop but it is still doing the same thing. I click to open the companies and it just spins and doesn't do anything. What are my options. I cannot go long without using my quickbooks. I researched and tried to go back to the previous OS operating system and it wouldn't let me go back and the only option is to save everything from my computer somewhere and then basically reinstall all of my apps. I am not real comfortable doing that. I put QB 2023 on my previous mac and tried to open the file but it was not updated the same as my current file. Please help.
Read up two posts.
This does not work for me. I have tried it many times, all without success.
What version of QuickBooks Mac do you have?
It was in the screen shot, QuickBooks Desktop Mac 2021, v20.0.12 R13.2
