Custom Transaction Numbers

Saw an old topic of turning off the auto numbering feature but being able to keep the field blank so we can type in our custom invoice/job #.  Back in 2020, it was not an option.  Checking to see if there is another workaround.  Anyone have this issue?  With QBO's last update, they broke something that has changed the number sequence it is now using.

Custom Transaction Numbers

Greetings, @KRO1. I am pleased that you have initiated your first post within the Community and have taken the time to express your concern. I'm here to help and provide information about the blank field for your invoice number in QuickBooks.

Currently, we do not have the capability to include an empty field for your customized invoice or job number. I understand that this can contribute to personalizing the invoice, displaying only preferred information. This would enhance the invoicing experience, making it smoother and more efficient for users like you.

That said, I recommend that you formally submit a feature request to our Product Developers. This will allow them to take your suggestion into account for upcoming updates. Our team of developers is dedicated to actively identifying and creating potential features that can elevate our users' overall experience.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon at the top, then Feedback.
  2. Enter your comments or product suggestions.
  3. Select Next to submit feedback.

I'll be sharing these resources that will help you personalize your sales forms and view, create, and edit transactions in QuickBooks:

Keep your posts coming if you've got additional questions about invoices in QuickBooks Online. I'll be right here to assist you further. Take care.
