Customer names on QBO invoices

I am having an issue with QBO (I recently migrated from the desktop). When I create an invoice for a customer, the customer gets the Invoice with the company name instead of the customer display name.

I already tried changing it in the "custom form styles" field and I don't have any options there to change that the invoice should show up with the customer name instead of the company name.

Thanks in advance

Customer names on QBO invoices

Thank you for taking the time to post your concern here in the Community, @Accountant 33 and I appreciate the action you took.

I know another way you can perform to help the customer display name to show when creating an invoice.

In order for the customer's profile to appear in transactions or invoices, let's make sure that their information is appropriately entered into the customer list.

Here's how to do it:

1. Go to Sales, then select

2. Choose the customer you want to update.

3. Select Edit.

4. In the Customer display name field, enter what you want to display for the customer. (this is a required field)

5. Then, review the customer's display name and make edits if necessary.
6. Click Save.

Customer names on QBO invoices

Thank you for your response.

I am still experiencing an issue when attempting to update my invoice. Firstly, the company name appears as a dropdown, which I believe the system is actually using that for the invoices. Secondly, even when I manually update the company name, it does not appear on the invoice. As an example, I want the invoice name to show as "62 Clermont Ave and Union Ave Plaza," but instead it is displaying as "Union Ave Plaza."

Customer names on QBO invoices

Hello @Accountant 33, Thank you for reaching out to us regarding your concern about QuickBooks Online (QBO). I understand that you are having issues with creating an invoice for a customer, where the customer is receiving the invoice with the company name instead of their display name.

To begin, please make sure that the customer profile field is filled in with the correct information. You can select the display name you want to use and then save it. After that, try to create an invoice again.

For your reference, I have attached a photo that can guide you through the process:

If the problem persists, I recommend clearing your browser's cache. This will remove any historical data and allow you to access QBO with a clean slate. You can also try using a different supported browser, as the browser cache may have been stored for a long period, causing the browser to behave strangely. In the meantime, I suggest performing some basic troubleshooting steps to determine if you are experiencing a browser-related issue.

Furthermore, you can personalize and add specific information to your invoices and other form styles in QBO. For a detailed guide on how to do this, please refer to the article: Customize invoices, estimates, and sales receipts.

Please don't hesitate to let me know if you have additional questions about your invoice with the company name instead of the customer display name in QBO. I'm always here to help. Take care always!

Customer names on QBO invoices

I tried doing as described but to no avail.

I attempted to send invoices in two different ways - individually and in batches. When I sent individual invoices, the name of the recipient appeared as expected. However, when I sent a batch of invoices with multiple recipients, the name did not show up on any of the invoices. I sent the same invoices both individually and in a batch to confirm this issue.

Thank you for coming back to the Community, Accountant 33.

We value the smooth and precise QuickBooks experience of our customers. Allow me to guide you to the appropriate channel that can address your invoice concern on time.

We need to conduct a thorough troubleshooting process to determine why the company name is appearing on the invoices instead of the customer's display name. This involves accessing your company, reviewing the sales form template, and examining the customer profile.

To resolve this matter, I suggest reaching out to our QuickBooks Online (QBO) Care Team. They have the essential tools to pinpoint the source of this unusual behavior in the sales form. Our agents will then guide you through the implementation process once a resolution is available.

I chatted for 3 hours with a rep and came to the conclusion that there is an issue with the new templates that are omitting the display name and forwarded to development .
