Get 50% OFF QuickBooks for 3 months*
Buy nowI am currently using QB Premier Non Profit 2016. When I went to upgrade, I was told everything has gone to a monthly subscription. This is a very small nonprofit. I use QB to write checks, run reports, and keep track of donations.
Is there another solution, other than a monthly subscription? And if I have to go to a monthly plan, which one would I choose?
Thank you for your help in this matter.
I appreciate you sharing your concern about upgrading to a non-monthly subscription in QuickBooks Desktop, @PBC125. Let me route you to the right support that can address your needs.
Upgrading to a non-monthly subscription needs adjustment within your billing info. That said, I recommend reaching out to our Phone Support team so they can help you with adjusting your billing frequency. They can be reached while using QuickBooks. Here's how:
Be sure to review their support hours so you'll know when agents are available. If you cannot reach out to Intuit through your books, you can get in touch through our website.
Moreover, here's an article that can help guide you in upgrading your subscription: Upgrade QuickBooks Desktop Pro, Premier, or Enterprise.

Is your not profit org located in the US or Canada? QB Desktop with the monthly subscription option is only available for Canada. If you are located in the US, you can purchase QB Desktop 2024 Premier Plus with annual subscription.
Any specific reason why you need to upgrade from QB Desktop 2016?
Thank you for your response. I was told by a sales team member that QB will no longer support Premier 2016 and that it could just stop working. It is still working just fine, as I do not use it for payroll, just for writing checks, receiving donations and reports. I am fine to keep using it. However, their comment has made me a little uneasy
. My issue with the monthly subscription is not how it is billed, it is the fact that I cannot purchase it outright, as I have over the past 20 years of using QB products. It does appear there is no way around that now.
I have come across a company called Tech Soup that sells subscriptions to QB at a reduced rate to non profits.
Do you have any information on that company, such as are they legitimate.
Thank you
Thanks for getting back to us, @PBC125.

You can continue using your current QuickBooks Desktop version. However, since it's a discontinued product, you won't be able to receive critical updates, security patches, or bug fixes. won't have live access to technical support if you run into problems or any of the other Intuit services that can be integrated with QBDT. For more details about the product discontinuation, please refer to this article: QuickBooks Desktop service discontinuation policy.
If you're planning to make a purchase through TechSoup, rest assured that they are a legitimate partner of Intuit. TechSoup has been our retail partner for over a decade, and we trust them to provide reliable and professional service.
Moving forward, I'd like to share a helpful guide on updating your company file as you consider upgrading your QBDT version: Update your company files to a new version of QuickBooks Desktop.
