DUPLICATE RECEIPTS

My client uses Sales Receipts.  There are lots of receipts in Undeposited Funds dating back to March 2020.  I've been their bookkeeper for a few  months.  If I delete a dup receipt, would it affect any of the previous financial reports?  Some of the receipts are not even showing under the Customer's account.   Thanks.

DUPLICATE RECEIPTS

Welcome and thank you for joining the Community, Margoof.

Let me share some information and help you clear your undeposited funds account

QuickBooks Online uses the Undeposited Funds account as a temporary holding account for payments received from customers before depositing them in the bank. Also, there's no option to reconcile the undeposited funds account because its not a real bank account.

That being said, you can remove the duplicate sales receipt from your records by deleting it. Let me show you how:

  1. Go to Accounting, then Chart of accounts.
  2. Type Undeposited Funds in the search box.
  3. In the Action column, click on View register.
  4. Select the duplicate sales receipt, then hit Delete.
  5. Click Yes to confirm.

I've included this article to learn more about the Undeposited Funds account: What’s the Undeposited Funds account?
